I need the support of the Pink Bus ladies for tomorrow please.  I have my 3 month check up with my oncologist and I am a little nervous this time around.  In December, I had quite a scare with my heart and ended up in the emergency room with an irregular heartbeat which turned out to be PVC (pre-mature ventriular contractions).  My onco immediately had me stop the  Tamoxifen because she did not want to take any chances that it was causing the heart problem.  So I have not been on the Tamoxifen since Dec. 16th.  Tomorrow we will discuss my going back on the drug. I really want to - because I want to do everything possible to fight the cancer I was diagnosed with 10 months ago.  But to tell you the truth, I have really felt so much better off the Tamoxifen--no fatigue, no leg cramps, and no discharge.  But I would still put up with all of that to give me a better chance of avoiding a recurrence.   Does anyone have any advice or questions I should be asking tomorrow?

Tues. March 4 -

Just returned from my appt with my onc.  Had a crazy little scare while there.  Onc asked if anything had changed with my breast and I told her I thought I felt a small pea-size lump.  After a thorough exam she marked two circles on my breast and said she wanted an ultra sound.  I thought oh-no.  It wasn't just in my head, she actually felt not one but two lumps.  So down to ultra sound room I go and not only did I have an ultra sound but a mammogram as well.  But the radiologist said he saw nothing to be concerned about except my very dense breasts.  Wooow! that was a close one.   As far as the rest of my appt. goes, my onc is very reluctant to put be back on tamoxifen at this point.  She wants to confer with my cardiologist after he does some testing next week.  Also to confer with my metabolic doctor for my osteoporosis of my spine.  Onc is thinking  of switching me to an armoatse inhbitor, but not unless my metabolic doctor confirms that the Proliea injections for the osteoporosis is stable.  So for now, we will wait until my appoints next week, and in May and Sept. are done and she will reassess at that time.  So all in all it turned out to be an OK appointment.  Now I just have to get through Friday's appointment with my radiologist.

    Onco update

So glad the lumps turned out to be nothing to worry about.  I hope your doctors get a game plan soon for you so you know whether or not you will be taking tamoxifen again or AI's.  I know I always feel better once I have a direction to follow.  Good luck with your radiologist appointment.

Hugs and positive thoughts coming your way,

    Ginny
