Major turn of events Update, detour in the road

Many of you have been following my post for the past couple of weeks with all of the drama and let downs. Well I am here to tell you it has been the ultimate roller coaster ride. I went from thinking I had kdney stones to having 3 mets and thing they could be surgically removed to a follow up MRI which revealed a fourth met and not being operable. We I woud not take no for an answer. I found some medical literature on the benefits of liver and lung surgery. Sent it to surgeon and hesaid to see what my oncologist had to say. My oncologist was on board with surgery and MAYBE chemo after. I told my surgeon and he said he already met with the head thoracic surgeon and I am scheduled for surgery next Friday.

Winter Marie, I turned that no into a yes from the same surgeon.

I know not everyone is religious here but I asked that you all pray or hope that they only find the four spots that were on the MRI and complete the surgery.

Update: I met with both the lung and liver surgeon, the head nurse , and head intern all at one time in a small exam room yesterday. They have decided to order a last minute chest ct scan scheduled for tomorrow at 3. I have pre-op the following morning (Thursday) and surgery Friday morning. Now it is all hinging on this scan. which I might not even get the results until I am already at the hospital again Thursday morning for Pre-op.

I am stressed to the max but God will get me through it.

I am not sure there is more power than prayer, we have you covered. Psalm 103 is one of my favorites, especially dealing with this condition. I read it as often as I can.

And for some reason, I just had the belief that this is how it would go. I just thought you would have surgery, even when the surgeon said no. I'm sorry I haven't been on earlier to tell you that I am sorry about your recurrence - I am. But now I am thankful to hear that you are scheduled for surgery. Many prayers and positive thoughts for a good outcome.

Marie, you know I have always admired your stength and persistance so for you to be proud of me is a great compliment. This will be my 5th major surgery but in some ways the sweetest since I had to fight for this one.

I am glad that you were able to get the surgeon on-board with what you feel you need.

It only goes to show that we must be our own advocate and keep looking for the answers.

Prayers for very successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Fortunately my oncologist had the same gut feeling as me. Imagine that, an oncologist who would push for surgery over chemo.

I'm so glad you wouldn't take no for an answer.  I think this surgery could be the "answer to your prayers"!

Yes I believe so too. Surgery is always the best place to start in initial treatment and recurrence.

Hi j Anderson

I am fine - had blood test and markers are same as that last month .

no chemo or anything since the IRE that I did in october - the MRI in december was fine

may get a MRI done in March.

hope it remains this way for a longer time - already had two recurrences since liver surgery

I'm so glad you have achieved what you wanted and what you believe in.

Just to remind you: if you believe that Cimetidine can prevent the spreading of cancer cells during the time of surgery, you should start taking it a few days before.

Good luck with everything.

I never tried that before surgery but heard some talk about it over the past year. Can you tell me more about it. I don't have a lot of time to react since surgery is one week away.

She's the one that originally suggested it on this forum, and I think it has some merit.

Can't wait to hear you're NED again.
