Prickly skin at times

Four to five months past chemo and several weeks ago I started having my skin breakout with a prickly feeling.  It is there for a couple of minutes then goes away.  Sometimes if I get anxious or warm is when it happens.  Found a bit of info on the internet but wondering if anyone has had this and what they did for it.

I get prickly sensations but mine are from nerve damage from my BMX with node removal. It is neuropathy but just not from chemo. Being on high dosage of Prednisone long term has now given me diabetes and I notice that I get that prickly feeling in my feet when my sugar goes to high.

Have you talked to your oncologist yet?

Prickly skin feelings could also be associated with Lymphedema flare ups.

I asked the people on breastcancer.org's Lymphedema section and many commented that they get prickly skin sensations when they have flare ups.

I think it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doctor and rule out some of these things. If it lymphedema related, you want to get it under control. You may want to see a certified LE therapist that knows what they and is experienced just to make sure.

Jean, about 2 months out of Chemo, I would get on the treadmill and within 5 minutes, I would get a prickly sensation and an itchy rash. Once I cooled down, within an hour, it would clear up. I think it was the toxins sweating out of my body from Chemo. If it's any consolation, it does go away.

Hope this helps and I hope you're doing well.

I have no idea what it was about, but yes, I had prickly sweaty hot skin sensations for about a year I think.  I had chemo.  They were sort of like a hot flash, and I wanted to tear my skin off, then they would be gone.  I'd always forget to mention it to oncologist.    Mine did go away.  Hope yours do, too.

Yes, I am familiar with that prickly skin sensation.  I think Sea60 hit the bullseye.

Ditto for me.  I felt the burning/prickly sensation when I'd start exercising, too.  I figured it was the toxins leaving my body via prespiration.  I finished with treatment back in 8/2010 and I still have a slight burning sensation.  It's more subtle now, but acts up every now and then.  Oh, make sure to keep drinking water. As you know, that helps flush out the toxins too.

Thanks all of you who replied.  I feel better now that this will eventually go away - keeping positive.

I also had that feeling, I thought it was hot flash type thing, it seemed to happen more in the summer when I was outside.

Hopefully will go away.  Makes me wonder what it will be like in the summer.  Hope all is well with you and thanks for your response.
