laryngitis hoarseness

I am a cancer survior by one year and one month.  i had chemo and radiation at the sametime  in june and july 2012.  I has esophageaectomy on November 5, 2012.  I think I have done wonderful.  I went back to work full time January 2013.  I have had my three month scopes and scans and all have been great.  I have my first six month test 12/17/ and 12/18.  Going on three weeks now I have had laryngitis or hoarseness.  I have never had this before.  All my Dr's say it is reflux laryngitis.   No one seems real worried and since I'm scheduled for my scopes on the 17th they say everything will be OK.

Has anyone else had laryngitis/hoarseness?

My husband experienced hoarseness about a year to a year and a half after surgery.  At first we didn't persue it since there was no pain but people were having a hard time understanding him so we decided to follow his oncologists advice and see an ENT.  He had a paralyased vocal cord, ENT said it was most likely from radiation and there were some options to correct it.  One was an injection of Botox which was not a permanent fix or they could place a small silicone wedge behind the vocal cord to help the two cord meet, this is done as an out patient.  He opted for neither, felt he had enough surgery already!  About 8 months after that his voice hoarseness started to get better, today, 2 years later his voice is fine and there is some movement in the vocal cord.

Hope this was helpful.
