Nervous

First off, anyone on here is a hero to be a survivor, caregiver, etc..

Just needed a little comfort tonight or to see if this has happened to anyone else.

I am 34 years old and have to go in this Friday for a MRI biopsy.

The first MRI I had  last week came back with a suspicios  8mm area so I went for a mammogram and ultrasound. Both of which did not show anything. The doctor from the breast center said she was perplexed by this so that is why I am going in for another MRI with a biopsy. Between the ultrasound, mammogram, and MRI, which one is the most trusted?

I am nervous becasue I lost my Mother to Ovarian cancer and my Father to brain cancer, and my sister just went into remission with breast cancer.

The waiting is the hardest part and I am praying it will all go well. I am just confused why it is showing on some tests and not others.

I will not tell you not to be

I will not tell you not to be nervous, because I was and under the circumstances it is pretty hard not to be.  I am a Stage 1 breast cancer survivor.  My cancer was diagnosed via a mammogram.  After the mammogram I had a needle biopsy and then the MRI for good measure.  I am not sure why the irregularity is not showing up on all of the diagnostic methods.  Certainly I would want all of them to have the same outcome.  Try to stay as calm as possible.  You will be in my thoughts.

My cancer doesn't show up on

My cancer doesn't show up on mammograms until it forms a cylinder shape which I found myself.  Had mamos every year nothing showed.  MRIs I understand are the best method of detection and more trustworthy.  The other ladies will I am sure know more than I and will drop you a note.  Sounds good that you are having the tests again.

    Each imaging test is

Each imaging test is different, so comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges.  An MRI is considered the most accurate, but it can have false positives.  Remember, all are "screening" devices.  The biopsy is still the gold standard for diagnosing what is going on.  With your family history, your docs will want to be extra careful not to miss something.

I am sending lots of good thoughts and prayers.   Big hugs!!!  And please let us know!

    Nervous

Linval,  I am praying with you.  I understand the nervousness and anxiety as Friday seems a long ways away.  But as you pray let those things pass and trust and believe that it is alright.  Yes, these are words often difficult to put into action but let it go.  Commit your thoughts and activities to those things that will overcome the nervousness.  Thirteen years has passed since my surgery, chemo, and radiation and during those years I had to keep my mind on other things and felt that if it was my time to leave this earth it was my time.  Think positively.

    stage 1 breast cancer

I saw your comment that you too were dx. via mammogram and biopsy - what a surprise for me - I just learned of my cancer 2 weeks ago and am scheduled for a mastectomy on Wed. Did you have a mastectomy? The doctor said I was in stage 1. Im having a mastectomy because my breasts are very small and she said to get the best results. How long ago was your dx. and did you need follow-up with chemo or radiation? I really am afraid of what they will find when I have surgery - again it is the waiting game. Any advice would be helpful. Also, no I feel like any ache or pain could be CA. I am 50 years old and did not have any other medical issues. I guess Im just trying to cope with my dx and the unknown. If you have time just let me know your experience. Thanks!!!!
