4 suspicious lumps under my arm

I just had a ultra sound and I'm worried it's not good.

Here is what my report said:

lymph nodes maybe infectious or inflammatory biopsy should be considered as neoplasms is not excluded.

4 suspicious abnormality

Largest 5.4 x 1.9 x 3. CM

My dr started me on antibiotics for a infection but I havnt been sick for literally months and that was bronchitis I took two rounds of antibiotics for that. My Mother died having breast cancer not being a candidate for surgery since she wasn't a candidate for any kind of surgery. I see the breast dr on 11/4 next week to see what he has to say. I'm worried it's cancer, I had a mammogram in June and it came back fine. I'd like to have an opinion of others here. I am 50 yrs old

Sheila,

It sounds like you are doing all of the right things at the moment.  I would plan my next move after speaking with the breast specialist on the 4th, since you could not likely get any other appointments before then anyway.

It is great that you had a clean mammogram quite recently.  Be aware that lymphoma and breast cancer cells in lymph nodes are not the same thing.  Breast cancer, when it spreads, mostly does so through adjacent lymph nodes, but this is not lymphoma.  I mention this so that if the breast doctor says "Your breasts are fine. No cancer there" you ask the further question, "What about lymphoma ? Could these nodes be lymphoma ?"

Lymphoma is wholly unrelated to breast cancer. The confusion comes from the fact that the first question asked when a diagnosis of breast cancer is made is "Is it in the lymph nodes?"   Let us hope that you have no form of cancer.

Be careful to keep your 'apples' (lymphoma) questions separate from your 'oranges' (breast) questons as you sort out what is going on with these nodes.

Guess Ill Google help in that area.

Shelia,

You said that you had a doctor visit already scheduled with your breast doctor.  All I was saying is that, if it were me, I would go ahead and see that doc and ask all of the questions you have been asking here regarding the ultrasound results.  See what he or she says.  I tell no one what to do, but I (if it were me) would keep that appointment, and see what that doctor recommends.  After you see him, you can decide on your next step.

Share, if you wish, what the doctor says, and some of the people here may have suggestions to give at that time.  I know five days can seem like an eternity, but it is not.

Bless your results,

max

Well saw the breast surgeon this morning and next week I'm having a dissection biopsy done..

At that point it will be tested for cancer.  I believe he's not doing a regular FNA because it's big and there are 4 lumps. While it's open the pathologist finds it malignant the dr will go in and remove the rest of the lymph nodes.

According to what I read. I'll be off 6 weeks like regular surgery after all they cut open your arm pit.

Well Tuesday can't get here a day too soon. The unknown drives me crazy I've googled a lot about lumps and masses under the arm. They all say the same see the dr get a biopsy go from there. No real explanation as to why?? I lost my Mom in May and she died of congestive heart failure but she also had lots if health issues. However, she had breast cancer and it started as a lump in her breast and it would fill up and swell, the dr would drain it in the office and finally when he did a biopsy it had got infected and she went home and by that point it had a big hole and we would dress it and stuff this hole and it was a nasty mess for her being a stroke patient also ..

She is with The Lord now and at rest and pain free. I wish today I could talk to her about all this she would ease my mind and tell me to trust in The Lord me lean not to my own understanding.

Well tomorrow is the big day. I go to the dr and get the results of the biopsy. Part of me is not worried and the other part is. Ibe always thought I was one of these people who doesn't dwell in the negative things regardless what it is. Perhaps that's a good thing about me. Bad part is I sweep things under the rug and they should of been trashed instead or some thing like that. Guess we all fight our battles in our own way or choose not to fight at all. That's more like me. Part of me says fight I want to see my grand children who aren't even conceived yet and see my daughter and son get married and be successful people in society. Other part of me says throw in the towel, join my mother and others who have gone on befor me. I know since my Mother died in May it's been a tough road. I don't want my kids to go down there over me. My husband well he loves me he says, but I think he would and could replace me in a heartbeat. SaH rah ! Okay enough said to a blog spot that won't probally be read ever. Some how I need to change my user name here Not sure how though. I'm going to try not and dwell in a negative outcome though the odds are 50/50

I want to wish you the best for your appointment tomorrow. Of course you are worried about it and who wouldn't be? It seems perfectly normal that your thinking is "all over the place".

I do hope you will be able to get a good night's rest tonight. Is your husband going with you?

Blessings and hugs,

Rocquie

Coffee is done so Im poyting a cup and then getting a shower for the apt in a hour and 30 min.

i fully believe that anything is possible with God! I also know that I know nothing about why some prayers are answered and some just aren't. That's something I intend on asking God. Guess it won't matter then he is God !!

Sheila,

Any day that starts with a good cup of coffee is a good day !  We are awaiting some good news from you. Remember that "good" can be relative:

"No cancer" is better than "some cancer," and "some cancer" is better than something massive or widespread, and so forth.

You can beat whatever hand is dealt you today.

My biopsy surgeon was the first person who looked at my first CT with me in any detail.  His reaction: "Man ! You are torn up !"

It got better with every test, however:  The strain was a slow-moving (non-aggressive) form, I had notbone-marrow involvement, and so forth.  I hope to hear that it was great news .

Hello, Max and kittie,

I have NHL, indolent, small B cell, marginal with 50% bone marrow involvement. Repeat scans but not biopsy will be repeated late January. I had a 4 week course of Rituxan 2 months ago. In the past 2 weeks, my underarms began to hurt, just as what occurred in april which led to the diagnosis. I'm wondering whether to request the scans earlier, and I'm also looking for support. thank you for a response.

Qi,

Since you are currently in treatment, the best thing I can advise is that you call your doctor and share your concern regarding the underarm pain, and take it from there.  I suspect it is unlikely they would change your scan schedule unless there was a serious and compelling reason to do so.

Also: Support to newcomers is what we do !  Please share any cancer issues you have here and welcome !

I too am waiting a major news on my NHL. All  kinds of things run thru our minds. However in your case I recommend hanging around as long as possible. The other option is a certainty at some point. Eventually all human beings die. You can have both options, so don't even consider leaving earlier than you have too! Best of luck.

No Cancer !!  Thanks to everyone for you support prayers and comments.

My gp doc said she was suprized herself that it was negative! I'm so thankful that I cried tears of relief when he said it's not cancer..

They removed the main senital node and left the other 3 that were enlarged, he couldn't give me a reason for them bring big though. that was done on the 11/12 and my incision site is doing great, however my breast is tender to the touch and still hurts to touch the nipple it shrivels a lot for no apparant reason, even in my bra it gets contracted and hard and very tender just from the fabric. I'm not sure what that's all about. I go back on the 18th for a follow up maybe he can tell me why. It seems swollen too and full. Maybe somebody knows something about this. I'm glad beyond reason it's cancer free. I don't like to be negative but I read aomewhere you can get a false negative. I'm hoping thats not my case. My regular dr is good and she follows me closely. I've had some major heart issues and had two open hearts and have a icd device. Well I will look forward to seeing good reports from others here and continue to pray for those in need. God Bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas.
