damn, that is the coolest view of how things could be. If only it were something we could have now! That's how I wish all my surgeries/chemos and other ills had been treated. Send ME a postcard when this can happen outside of the lab!!

    Thanks, Alexandra!

In so many ways, technology truly has the ability to make this world a better place.  I thank all of those brainy and talented people who are working to make it happen.

    WOW!

This is truly Star Trek technology but as with other 'out there' technologies this will no doubt become the gold standard treatment of the future. It's comforting to know that although it may not be here for us our children & grandchildren could benefit :)

    thanks or sharing Alexandra

Debra, I hope your son comes back safely

I don't want to start a political debate here, it's not the place. But... I was born and raised in Russia. I still remember the Soviet Union invading ("helping") Afghanistan in the 80's and getting stuck for a decade in this medieval country that neither wanted nor needed to be helped. How many young men were killed or mangled in that pointless cluster-f*ck of a war! One of them was my first boyfriend, an adventure-seeker who was drafted into the Russian equivalent of the "green berets" and stepped on a land mine. He was 19, the same age my daughter is today.

I believe that USA could learn something from history and not repeat it.

And yes, Israel accepts anyone who was born to a Jewish mother or converted to Judaism and their families. That's how I moved there in 1991, right after the first Gulf War and a few months before the USSR fell apart. And just happened to book a seat on the train from Moscow to Warsaw and on the plane from Warsaw to Tel-Aviv next to a random guy, currently known as my husband of 20 years.

    Yes

You are right Alexandra.  Sadly, we can't seem to remember history and  we have had to repeat it.  We didn't learn from Korea nor Viet Nam{my generation}.  My son is much like your young man,he is a carear Marine of 16 years.  This is first trip to that God forsaken Afghanstan, but he did do three  tours of Iraq and Lybiria , Smmolia.  He has two Purple hearts and is  supposed to get A Bronze Star and I HATE THE WHOLE MESS !  Why in the world can't they let Mothers run the Country?  Bet that would put a stop to all this nonsence!

@childof thesstars, and everyone.Thank you for prayers and thoughts for that little  knuckle -headed Jar Head son  of mine!  Debra

p.s.  @ Alexandra  You found your husband on a plane sounds like the beginning of a very good sexy Alexandra-book!  You could probably knock out "Fifty Shades of Gray"!

pss we are  Christan, but of Ashkanazy Jew extraction on my mothers side...does that count?!!!

    Debra,

I don't know if you're seriously thinking about repatriation to Israel. Maybe you should first go for a visit and see it for yourself. What you would need is your mother's and grandmother's birth certificates tracing it to the first Jewish maternal ancestor. Once you're there you can practice whatever religion you want. Israeli bureaucracy is second to none, income tax is very high, sales tax is 18%. But they will pay for relocation, and Hebrew lessons, give a few grand of start-up money and no-interest mortgage, car / furniture / appliance loans. They recognize dual citizenship, so if you don't like it there, you can just go back. BTW if you want to get your family away from the war, you should know that Israel has mandatory 3-year army service (draft) for all 18-year-olds (boys and girls) and annual army reserve service for all men till 51 years old and that it periodically gets hit with stray Arab missiles.

Why don't y'all come to Canada instead? I'm lovin' it... Peace, quiet, polite drivers waving you in, mediocre but free healthcare and all the snow you can shovel.

Speaking of "50 shades of gray", my marriage has been more like 1 shade of pale vanilla. Smile
