I started mine about 5 months before they found the cancer! In spite of RCC, when my mood cooperates, I've never felt better.  I'm down 60 lbs since October. Of course 8 lbs of that is from the surgery! Laughing

Lots of fresh fruits, veggies, meat intake down to about 15% of total calories!   I'm with you! If I'm gonna be around a while, I want it to be a GOOD while, quality wise!

Congratulations on a great choice!

Hey Eims,

Good for you, it will help you get your energy back. We have always tried to maintain a healthy diet. I like to make things from scratch, so I know what's in it. Having catered for a vegetarian daughter for many years I don't eat much meat, I tend to use Quorn Products instead, my husband does not notice the difference...lol.

We do eat a lot of fish and lots of veg and fruit, but my downfall is cheese, I love reblochon. Trying to stay away from all the bad stuff is not always easy, but we try to stick with unprocessed food. We grow a lot of our own veg and we have fruit trees, what we don't have available we buy at the market. We are lucky to have access to organicly grown food. Anything to keep healthy!

I can't stand being inactive and doing very little has driven me crazy. The past two weeks we have been clearing our fields and doing some log splitting for next winter. The first couple of days I had to come back to the house to rest, but then I managed to keep up, which felt great. I can now bend, stretch and lift with no problem, who knew! I feel I have got my mojo back at last and I have dropped a few pounds into the bargain. It is amazing how much better you feel when you work out, and here the sun is shining AT LAST!! so things are looking up.

All the best with your fitness regime:-)

djinnie i am soooooooooooo jealous that you grow your own and you have fruit trees too!!!!  yeah i do eat healthy too most of the time and i always made everything from scratch because it tastes so much better and its better for you.  fish goes down very well in this house and yep we are suckers for cheese...any except blue cheese!!  my hubbie is a divil for meat and we are in constant disagreement mode when it comes to that.......he doesn't think dinner is dinner without meat!!  i get away with maybe 1 dinner a week without meat!!

i am sooooo happy you are getting back into the swing of things but also getting your rest too which is important.  the sun always makes us feel better doesn't it?!!  not that we see a lot of it here in ireland ;-)

you mind yourself....

Djinnie and Eims - do you have any good scratch recipes and where can I buy some scratch?  I see you both like to make as much as possible from scratch!

I knew you were another scallie wag Djinnie! A note of possible interest for both you and Eims:

We're going to be in Edinburgh tomorrow morning and when we're about to scratch about for our scran we might try the just-opened Edinburgh bistro pub - the Scran and Scallie - set up by two Michelin-starred chefs.

We've not been there yet, so we'll be trying it from scratch, in the hope of settling our itch for quality scran!Laughing

The Dragon Slayer;

Once upon a time, and far, far away lived a beautiful Queen with voluptuous breasts.

Nick the Dragon slayer knew that the penalty for his desire would be death should he try to touch them.

One day Nick revealed his secret desire to his colleague, Horatio the Physician, who was the King's chief doctor.

Horatio the Physician, exclaimed that he could arrange for Nick the Dragon Slayer to satisfy his desire, but it would cost him 1, 000 gold coins to arrange it.

Without pause, Nick the Dragon Slayer readily agreed to the scheme. The next day, Horatio the Physician made a batch of itching powder and poured a little bit into the Queen's brassiere while she bathed. Soon after she dressed, the itching commenced and grew intense.

Upon being summoned to the Royal Chambers to address this incident, Horatio the Physician informed the King and Queen that only a special saliva, if applied for four hours, would cure this type of itch, and that tests had shown that only the saliva of Nick the Dragon Slayer would work as the antidote to cure the itch.

The King quickly summoned Nick the Dragon Slayer. Horatio the Physician then slipped Nick the Dragon Slayer the antidote for the itching powder, which he quickly put into his mouth, and for the next four hours, Nick worked passionately on the Queen's voluptuous and magnificent breasts.

The Queen's itching was eventually relieved, and Nick the Dragon Slayer left satisfied and touted as a hero.

Upon returning to his chamber, Nick the Dragon Slayer found Horatio the Physician demanding his payment of 1, 000 gold coins.

With his obsession now satisfied, Nick the Dragon Slayer couldn't have cared less and, knowing that Horatio the Physician could never report this matter to the King, with a laugh just told him to get lost.

The next day, Horatio the Physician slipped a massive dose of the same itching powder into the King's underwear. The King immediately summoned Nick the Dragon Slayer...
