My Feet Are Always Cold

Options

After radiation treatments and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, my feet are always cold. My roomate will be sweating because he is hot, but my feet are COLD! They even feel icy cold to the touch. Anybody have this ever happen?

    It's my feet and hands....

but I have neuropathy in both areas.....I attribute it to that.  Also, have you had your thyroid checked?  I was freezing all the time until it got regulated.

    my husband

I think Jim's are find during the day but when he sleeps his feet and hands get gold and there doesn't seem to be any way to warm them.  I attribute it as much to poor circulation as I do the chemotherapy although both may play a role.

    could be thyroid

    Hello gandog,

As Phrannie says, it could very well be your thyroid.  Mine got fried during radiation, and since I have been on the thyroid meds, my feet have not been as cold as they were during treatments.  It is very common to have your thyroid fail.  It is a very easy fix with a once a day relatively inexpensive pill (synthroid, levothroxine ???  can't spell)

However, I do have a bit of the same neuropathy Phrannie talks about, but luckily mine is only in my fingers on both hands.

I did NOT have chemo so I blame it on the 30 rad treatments.  I do wear socks all day and even wear them to bed.

Good Luck and hope you find something that will help you.

    Thyroid
Just to rule it out, have the thyroid checked. As many others, mine was fried with rads. My hands and feet were always cold, really cold but now that I'm taking my magic pill it's getting better. I'm still at the stage where we are trying to get the perfect dose of meds but it is much better.
    Good luck!

    Off and On Cold

I have cold feet some days and not others.  Some tingling in hands and feet.  I think its the radiation, but doctors don't seem much interested as it is a common side effect and aparently does go away after time.  If after 9 months or so they the doctors said they will reconsider and run some tests.  For now just waiting to see what happens.

    High Blood Pressure Med's

A side affect of High Blood Pressure medications is cold feet and hands. I had this before my bouts with cancer. Still have the issues today. I figured it was my HBP med's all this time.

    I'm just generally cold

I don't know if it's the chemo after-effects, the weight loss, or something else, but about halfway through treatments I started feeling cold, and it never went away. I need a jacket when everyone else is fine! I had my thyroid checked about 6 months ago but we're supposed to have it checked every 6 months so I'm due. I have blood work for a PET scan on Friday and I think thyroid testing will be a part of it.

I don't have any answers... just wanted you to know that you're not alone. :-)
