Today marks 1 year that I rang the bell...that memory still brings tears to my eyes. My question is where the reference point in time is for figuring milestones like 18 months and five years. I have heard it is at dx, was it when I had my surgery or was it the day I finished tx?

First, Congratulations on your 1 year mark of ringing the bell.

That's a very good question. I, too, wondered the same thing. Maybe someone can help us out here with the answer??

I use my Tx end date for milestones...

Speaking of which, June 18th will be my four year mark...

My tx ending date is June 6th (D Day) 2009.  Looking forward to that end of the 4th year.

Hwt,

I have numerous anniversary dates dealing with cancer

Detection date

Surgery date

I have cancer date

And on and on

The end of treatments (rad & Erbitux same day for me) is where I celebrate (weird) the anniversary and also where the doctors measure from.

14 months post May 23rd,

Matt

First of all congrats on the 1 year mark.

My TX end date anniversary is my main milestone, Dec 31 will be 2 years. For me there are several milestones, one being that in July I will have my port removed, after 2 years, but I take blessing for every day that I am healthy and doing well as milestones.

with John's "with each sunrise" ...makes sense too since every day we are around after having found out we have cancer has sure made the grass greener, the sky more blue and lordy so much more patience (as in not sweating the small stuff in life) than ever before.

Heck, I always thought my wife and kids were beatiful, but after being dx with cancer they got even more beautiful :).....go figure.

hwt,

September 28,2000 is the day that the results if myneck dissection came back and there was NED in any lymph node and all org. Tumors were gone, so even thoygh i still had 1 week for the next 3 month in hospital for 24hr chemo, that is the day i celebrate that is the day they said it was gone, i rung my bell( not really we didnt have one) in july.  I think the first time they say its gone is the anniversary no mAtter when your total treatment is finished!

thats my $.02 anyway!

Take care,

Rachel
