One year post surgery follow-up
Hi everyone,
Well, this week is my one-year anniversary of beating the beast. My surgery was last March 16 where they removed a Stage 2, 7.5 x 6.5 x 4.5 tumor on my right kidney. It was completely encapsulated so in general I am a happy camper. Last week I registered for a 50 mile bicycle ride in May. A year ago, I'm not sure that I would be expecting to do something like that.
I had my one-year follow-up blood tests and chest X-ray last Friday. While I am waiting for my appointment with my surgeon, I've received my lab tests and other than the lower than before creatinine levels (1.23mg/dL) everything looks good and that result is acceptable with a single kidney. Even my hemoglobin levels are back to normal (low hemoglobin while donating blood is the sypmtom that I took to the doctor that led to kidney cancer diagnosis).
On to living life!
