Platelet Count

My husband had a lower platelet count this week. He was given a reduced dose of his chemo.  Any information on how to raise those numbers?  What causes them to drop? The rest of his bloodwork looks good.

    I don't know what causes it, but I was on 5FU pump continously. My counts would drop and I would have to stop the pump for five days and receive shots to raise my counts. Because of this the dr. added an extra month of treatment. I would be so weak when the counts dropped, but recovered pretty fast.
