I have been drained every week after my mastectomy on Nov. 5th 2012. This last time it was very bloody and thick he said it may be coming back because Angiosarcoma cancer always comes back because its in the blood cells. ands he found a round area that he took off to have tested that looked suspicious. The results aren't back yet. Has anyone else had this?

through.  It sounds like you did not have a 'drain' inserted after your mastectomy, rather you go in weekly to have the excess fluid drain there in your Plastic Surgeons' office?  I do not have any experience with this type of fluid removal.  I hope another Sister in PINK, can be of more information.  Are you currently seeing a Plastic Surgeon, or General Surgeon?

I wish I could offer you some words of wisdom, or insight to what may be the issue -- with fluid issue.

My thoughts would to see what your doctor has to say regarding this latest 'bloody and thick' fluid build up

- what his/her next step would be to resolve this situation - etc.

-I would then go out and get a 2nd opinion (insurance permitting).

Best of luck .. and update when possible.

Strength, Courage and HOPE for a Cure.

Sorry I forgot to say I had drains in. I had the surgery on Nov the 5th the drains was removed the last week of Nov. They have been drained just about once a week sense the surgery. I raised up my arm to get something off the shelf, it felt like something tore a part or pulled a part. I wondered if that could have caused this pain and the very bloody drainage the last time.   The bloody drainage he removed on Wednesday came back ok, but the area that was biopsyed came back positive, so the cancer is back. He said they would do surgery again in two weeks then blast me with radiation. I am still sore around my collar bone is very sore and I hurt.  They say my health is to bad, and my body couldn't withstand chemo. I'm not having reconstruction. I have had cancer in 2005 now in August 2012 then in late October now in late January 2013. I am wondering about foods or anything to help, any ideas? Thank you

Su rgery in 2 weeks .. date?

I would consider adding several foods rich in iron - to help with your health, and fatigue.

  • Seafood: Fish (cod, sardines, tuna, clams, oysters, shrimp)
  • Poultry: Chicken, eggs, yolk
  • Lean Red Meats: Beef, lamb, veal, pork, liver
  • Nuts and Beans Soybeans: dried beans, hazelnuts, almonds, lentils, peanuts
  • Vegetables: Broccoli, chard, spinach, greens, asparagus, turnips, parsley, kale, watercress, brussel sprouts
  • Beans: Green, lima, peas, chick peas, garbanzo
  • Fruits/Sweets: Dates, prunes, figs, apricots, apples, raisins, chocolate, coconut
  • Fruits/Vegetables (if eaten at the same meal as iron source): Citrus fruits, tomatoes, oranges, cabbage, lemons, green peppers, limes, grapefruits, tangerines, cantaloupes, tangelos
  • Bread and Cereals: Enriched, fortified and whole grain breads and cereals are often high in iron (check label)
  • Grains: Wild rice, corn meal, oats, soybean, wheat, bran, rye, buckwheat, popcorn, barley, wheat germ, millet
  • Cereals: Farina, cream of wheat, shredded wheat
  • Milk and Dairy: Poor sources of iron: milk, cheeses (all types, cottage cheese, ice cream, yogurt). These hinder the absorption of iron. Do not use these foods one hour before or one hour after the ingestion of the high iron foods and iron supplements.

MY surgery has been delayed a week. I am wondering about still being drained while I do radiation treatments. It has been drained every week after the drains came out the last of Nov, I wonder about hurting myself I raised my arm and it felt like I tore or pulled something hard. It hurts and is sore, Has any one else hurt thereselves and had very bloody drainage? The drainage was clear till this last time and it came back no cancer.  I have had this cancer three times sense August. This time the Angiosarcoma is in the middle of my chest. If anyone else has had this could they tell me. Thank you.
