My mom was recently diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, she is on this site too and I've read some of the post's and found some of the things you ladies talk about to be really helpful. I am trying to be strong for her, but sometimes its tough and I don't want to share some of my feelings with her becuase I feel like it's putting more baggage on her that she doesnt need.

So sorry to hear your Mom is going through this. But you have come to the right place. You can 'vent' here anytime. It's not an easy road, for anyone, so please visit us often and let us know what we can do for you.

In the meantime, I'm glad you're reading previous posts. There are many, many stories of hope and survival here. Be encouraged, don't give up hope. Being proactive and supportive of your Mom is the best you can do right now. Maybe someday she'd like to chat with us, too.

Prayers & (((HUGS)))

You and your mom have every reason to be hopeful about her future. It's definitely possible for a stage 3 survivor to come to a point where she is NED (no evidence of disease). My friend is a nine-year and counting, stage 3c ovarian cancer survivor. While she has had her share of chemo over the years, it has not stopped her one iota from enjoying life with her family and friends. I cannot tell you how many trips around the country and around the world she has taken in the last nine years. I have a hard time being able to get together with her because she's always so busy!

Please keep us posted. We'll help you and her in anyway we can.

Take care,

Kelly

for what you are going through. You will find great support here. It is hard to try to be strong for our loved ones. Those of us on this side of the journey do the same thing. I cry in the middle of the night once in a while (don't like to give in to it too much) and I work hard at keeping an upbeat attitude. I only share my "down" feelings if I cannot mask a funky mood.

I wish the best to your mom and you and am glad you found this site. It is the best.

Thank you ladies so much for the kind words. I am trying to be strong, the good days are good but her bad days weigh so heavily on me, I feel so helpless and frustrated and angry and I can't imagine how she feels.

I am soo sorry you had to join this club, but....you have come to the right place. My mother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer on July 22, 2009....not that I remember exactly where I was. You know, it takes a awhile for this news to truly sink in....all i remember was being scared and powerless...then I came here and started to learn about the reality of this disease. They have treatment, and they have remarkable surgeons out there...and they are doing all kind of studies all the time. Throughout her treatment I also learned that I could handle being one of her primary caretakers as well...I also learned she was a strong woman, who was even more awesome than I even thought she was. Take notes at doctors meetings and hang out with Mom...I remember asking her doctor what I could do for her....and the doctor replied, "about the cancer, nothing....."........ just be her daughter......and so I did.....during her chemo, we ate more mini oreos than I could believe and vanilla ice cream, and other terrible foods so we could make sure she kept her weight....well of course she was always a great weight and mu sister and I gained a boat load of poundage!! LOL......there are many good times and challenging times ahead......thanks for writing....
