Thyroid tumor-right side/colon cancer worried please help

Hello-I am so worried about thyroid cancer. I am stage 4 colon cancer and have had two surgeries for lung and liver mets. (Feb. and April)I I finally had the courage to read my last cat scan and I have a 12 mm tumor on the right side.
My oncologist said we'll take care of the thyroid later. I am worried sick of course. Its been enough healing from the surgeries and being on mop up chemo. I will scan the end of Aug., and hope all is stable after surgeries and chemo.
I am trying to accept what card I have been dealt but I am concerned about metastasis with my throid.
I am a single mom and my 20 and 23 year old live with me. I am trying to be strong for all of us and enjoy each day but its even more difficult thinking about this or what the diagnosis could be.
Is an ultrasound done before a biopsy? Is it performed by an IR or an endocronologist?
I am being treated at. Northwestern hospital in Chicago due to the surgeries and I wanted and NCI center.
I have a message call - in to my oncologist about my thyroid concern. Hope to speak to her tomorrow.

I hope to be back at work end of month and believe I will have to with short -term disability running out. I am concerned about getting the thyroid diagnosis and possibly having treatment or surgery if there is cancer.

Any feed back or encouragement is appreciated. I am having a hard time now feeling like I have and knowledge or power to take it a
day at a time.

Thank you for letting me express myself.

    Hi barbebarb
I am so sorry for what you have been going through and I am sorry that I didn't see your post sooner. It's even more frustrating that nobody responded to you. Seems there are not as many people on the Thyroid boards as there used to be. I have had a difficult time getting on the site. Not sure if it's my internet speed or the site. This site gives me a great deal of grief at times and I just can't wait for it to load, if it ever does.

I am a three time Thyroid cancer survivor. Thyroid with double metastasis to the Lymph nodes. I also survived Melanoma of the skin. Cancer is a hereditary disease on both sides of my family.

I know it's been more than a month since your post, but if you see this response, will you please let me know how you are doing and if you have any resolution to your Thyroid concerns.

    Blessings,
    Julie-SunnyAZ
