Pain in my jawbone is so bad sometimes!

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
I have been doing well from my tonsil cancer surgery and radical neck dissection, until the last week or so. As the feeling comes back, more pain in another place pops up. My jawbone gets so sore, feel like abscessed tooth, but I have dentures. Doc gave me a round of antibiotics on Tuesday, and told me if it wasn't better by Monday he wanted to do a biopsy. Now I don't know what to think. Already been fitted for mask, seeing surgeon in the morning for port insertion, and pet scan next tuesday.

    I didn't have the same cancer, but did have a radical neck disection. I developed extreme pain in my lower jaw that knocked me to my knees....even on pain meds. Mine is due to nerve damage due to the surgery itself. If this isn't due to spread (which I pray it isn't) ask for a med for nerve blocker. I'm on gabapentin...3oomg 3x's daily, and will increase dosage soon. And I too wear dentures but your right it does feel like an abscessed tooth.....hopefully great news to come your way soon, I'll be thinking of you ! Katie

    I can't relate to your situation as I did not have surgery ..and obviously your journey (it sounds like) is just beginning (?) ....but I can offer and did whisper a prayer for your scan to come back NO SPREAD :) and I did ask the good Lord to give you whatever you need to get through all of this .....
