When do you consider your anniversary to be? Is it a year from the date you were diagnosed or a year after the date you finished treatment?

Happy Monday everyone!

I consider it the date that I was diagnosed: February 1987. I can no longer remember the exact date, but I missed Katherine's 5th birthday party and that was February 19th, so I am guessing it was about February 16, 1987.

    Date of Diagnose
    Sinai,

I was diagnose with breast cancer 18 years ago this coming August. I have no recollection of the actual date as there never has been a real reason to remember it.

I have always been in treatment. I am very grateful that I have responded so very well to hormonal therapies.

    Best to you,

    Doris

August 2, 2010...it is the date I found swelling in my armpit. I saw the doc the next day, by the end of that day I was told "99% sure it's cancer." I don't remember the day I finished treatment...but after I calculate a little it was somewhere in the end of March.

August 24, 2011...the date I was told the biopsy for recurrence was positive. In my head, these are two separate and distinct diseases (even though that's not true). I'm still in treatment for the mets found at that time.

So for me, it's the dates of dx. But you should do what feels right for you. Any celebrations or ceremonies you might have should be on the date that is most important to you.

    Hugs,

    Linda

    I consider my anniversary
I consider my anniversary the day my doctor told me I was cancer free....

I was diagnosed July 5... July 20 I had a lumptocemy and my surgeon advised me they remove the tumor (margin & nodes was clear)-no cancer.. so to me its July 20

To me Chemo, radiation and femara are/were preventative treatment that I must take to do whatever I can so that the ugly beast don’t come back
