Health Insurance

My wife has been insured with American International Insurance for more than ten years. She has only made one small claim on them for a minor injury. But when she turned 65 AIA told her that they don't insure people over 65. We don't live in the US or Europe where I am sure this discrimination is illegal. No-one would insure me even at 70 so you can understand the problems we have. We live in Thailand. However medical services are good and much cheaper than the US. My Novalis shaped beam IMRT treatment for Pca including all the prior and post treatment costs, scans MRI, TURP etc. came to about about $20,000. But still a lot of money for us

...AT LEAST IN THE US...FOLKS TURNING 65 ARE REQUIRED, UNLESS THEY HAVE CREDITABLE COVERAGE VIA A UNION OR EMPLOYER TO ENROLL IN MEDICARE..AND TO PURCHASE SOME PRESRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE ALONG THE WAY...

NOT KNOWING THE RULES FOR HEALTH CARE IN THAILAND OR YOUR HOME COUNTRY...(YOU DONT MENTION WHERE YOU ARE FROM OR WHAT YOU DO/DID PROFESSIONALLY)...BEST TO ASK BOTH PLACES...AND IT WILL PERHAPS BE BASED ON AGE...

AS FAR AS YOUR COSTS, THEY ARE QUITE LOW...EVER ASK ...why?...probably a function of some government program in Thailand...

Back to the US, the folks turning 65 go on Medicare and there are tons of subsidy programs at the state level for those in economic need for premiums, copays, prescriptions...

Folks dont get it, OBAMACARE is a already here...called MEDICARE/MEDICAID ..put forth by another Democrat...LBJ...thing is, government cant handle the rules, since the writers of the rules have not even read their own documents...LOL

Do reach out to the local hospital to see if they can point you both in a good direction...usually the billing dept or some such entity that collects $$$...if not, try the EMBASSY from the country you are from..

Best of good things to you both
