I am a 49 years old woman with history of cystic breast.
Last week I went for my annual Mammogram and Sonogram and the Radiologist told me that she saw one area on my right breast that required a needed aspiration to determine what it is. When I asked if that are can be cancer she said yet. I am going out of my mined with worry. Please help.

    Waiting
is the worst. When will you know the answer? The bussier you can keep with pleasant activities or with good friends the easier the wait will be. Though I know you will still worry as it is human nature, I will still ask this. Will worrying about it change what ever the answer will be? I hope your worrying is for nothing?

Iamnotsure .. Gentle hugs for you, as
well as positive thoughts. We have been there, done that many times -- It is best to
keep busy, active (as laughsalot suggested).. keep yourself in the presence as much
    as possible.

When your Doctor calls you in (my suggestion -- go in face to face), please take a tape recorder, family friend, booklet of paper to write down everything that will be discussed -- this will also help you diffuse some, not all of the craziness associated with
    breast cancer.

    Update us when possible.

Strength, Courage and HOPE for a Cure.

Keep your mind positive, it wasn't easy but that's the only way to beat this disease.

    The waiting
The waiting is the worst. It's too bad there aren't provisions made that when you tell a woman something like this you can do the biopsy right away.

Praying that you get good news and realize you were worried for nothing.

    Please keep us posted.

    Always Think POSITIVE
I completely understand your fears and the waiting --as many stated, is the worst. But no matter what, you need to stay positive, think positive and stay calmed. I pray this is NOT cancer. But please know if it is, you will get through this. We will be here holding your hand. Try not to be scare since you still don't have results. But even - God forbids - if something is wrong, don't be. You will be OK. You will be OK.

    Hang In There Tina!
Tina, please so not stop your treatment. First and foremost, report how sick you are to your oncologist. There are many things they can do to help you weather this. Since this is your first treatment, nobody can predict how you will feel. There are so many things available to help you. After a few days.... mine was 4, I started feeling a lot better. I described how I felt was like having the flu. PLEASE, drink plenty of fluids. You need to stay hydrated, and I was one who didn't and I paid for it. Hang in there Tina, don't quit, you will be able to get through this. I am a new member here but I bet there a bunches of women who have been there, done this, and bought the t-shirt. BIG HEALING HUGS!

    Marge... Thanks
Love your comment.... I have a wonderful female Dr. We have previously been able to do just what you would wish... go directly to a biopsy... and yes, the worrying was for nothing!!!! (Thank you Left Breast...) This time, for the good I hope, the area of concern doesn't show on an ultrasound. So I have to do the "boob thru the hole, assisted by gravity" procedure to guide the needle via mammogram. (I have a few things I'd like to say to Right Breast at the moment... but am holding back!!!!)

    To not sure...I understand
To not sure...I understand how you feel. I can't handle the unknown it was a relief to me to finally get confirmation that it was indeed cancer. Although I was sure in my mind thaat it was it was still a shock to finally have it confirmed. Had a total meltdown and then went to work on getting a plan of action.

To was it Tina...chemo sucks! I have never felt so bad in my life and I went thru 18 rounds. It has taken me over a year and half to be able to say I am finally getting back to normal. Yes there was times I felt like giving up. I just kept telling my self that is x rounds done and x amount to go. I am stronger than all of this and I can do it. If small children can do this so can I. While doing chemo there was a young man with downs syndrome taking chemo. He was such a ray of sunshine. So positive and uplifting. His MOther confided in me that with every chemo he would become so sick that he would end up in the hospital. He was a real inspiration to me.

    Continue, I have a sister
Continue, I have a sister who is going through exactly the same,She is really sick with the chemotherapy, she wanted to give up on it, But i have persuaded her as she only had 2 more sessions now only 1 to go. I know its awful and i hate seeing her so ill but i have told her she needs positivity and to look forward. I tell her to think what she will be doing this time next year, when its all over.
I also had BC 12 years ago i had a double mastectomy, chemo radiotherapy, ovaries removed, Now have bone cancer in my right clavicle bone. As long as it stays there in the bone then that is fine with me.I have always had a positive outlook as i love my life. I have 3 adult kids ,6 grankiddies (they keep me busy lol ) and the most amazing true friends. They keep me on my toes.

I do get my down days but then my friends will not have me feeling sorry for myself. I still go out dancing and socialise even though i am 50 but feel 30 lol

All i am saying is continue to be positive and carry on with the chemo.
    I hope you do

    to I am not sure
I was told that too and it turned out to be stage II but I did NOT need chemo or radiation. First, figure out what you're scared of specifically. Is it the biopsy? Is it the surgery? Is it pain? Then, find out what you have. Get a definite answer. A biopsy does not have to hurt. (DO NOT GET A GALACTOGRAM BECAUSE IT'S TOO PAINFUL AND NOT ACCURATE ANYWAY). Ask for lots of lidocaine like at a dentist, and take an anti-anxiety med like Xanax before you go in. Your doctor will prescribe it. Then go from there. Take a calm friend with to wait for you. It does not take long. Tell them NOT to call you with the results on your cell phone. You might be driving or at a fun event! They can call you at home at a time right for you. Remember, you can always get a 2nd or 3rd opinion!
