    No matter what
each day brings you closer to the new you. I am now 7 weeks out, and had some solid food for the first time yesterday. Can't eat much, still too sore. But getting better, as will you. And here's the teaser, the first bite of the several foods I tried in the last two days tasted normal. How's that for encouragement? Congratulations, man.

    Hi Dan,

I was just wondering today when you were going to finish treatment. You were just a wee bit behind me.

Hopefully you won't cook too bad in the next two weeks. Mine got worse the last week of RT and for 6 days afterwards. Now it seems like everyday I feel a little bit better. Still have the sore throat and my mouth is a little sore. Mint toothpaste or mint gum sure hurt and makes me cough.

Don't know about you, but I'm itching to start working again. Problem is I tire so quickly and need a nap around 2pm. After my neck heals a bit and I can go out in the sun, I'll start my walking again to slowly build up some strength and stamina.

Congrats on finishing and may you heal quickly.

    Food, Glorious Food!
Hooray for you Dan! Another milestone completed! Wishing you a quick recovery, and a banquet of your favorite food are right around the corner! For me, it was hit & miss for a while. What tasted yucky one day, was great the next week. Keep trying! I am so happy for you!

    Much Appreciated
Thank you to everyone for the well wishes, it really means a lot to me knowing
That not only my caregivers ( wife, daughter and family) I have lots of other caregivers
that I don't know but feel like I have known you all forever. I have read and learned so
Many things on this board it kept me going through my treatment and will continue to do so
    Through my recovery.
I've continued to work up to now, not hard or long, just making the odd custom frame
And bulk matting ( the same mat but in large quantitys for a company that sells on QVC)
But I finnish early afternoons like Tommy to take a nap, due to fatigue.
Thanks for the comments on the taste buds and saliva issues, I know they will return somewhat
But I'm scared to death they won't. I MISS MY FOOD AND DRINK.
    OK enough rabbiting on, just one more big T H A N K Y O U.

    God bless you all.
    Tonsil Dad,

    Dan.

    Tonsil Dad,

    Dan.

    Never Know...
But you might be one of the lucky as myself.

I too had nearly no taste and no saliva initially. A bottle of water inhand 24/7, each bit of food a swig of water. One bite of food and the taste from the first bite would be gone.

It took a few months to start getting some improvement. But after two years or so, I regained nearly 100% of taste and saliva back.

For me sweet took the longest, especially Ice Cream, one good bite and then gone. As my fat belly will attest, I have gotten that taster back as well.

    Best,
    John

Good Job Dan, I to get inspiration from you and many others on this site, since I have just joined the HN&C Club , its a blessing to hear from folks that have been there done that. Not sure what your favorite food is but hoping its on your menu very very soon.
