Popi is going home!

Just wanted to post a quick update about our Popi. He had MIE on April 03, 2012 with Dr. Alvelo-Rivera at Karmanos. The surgery went very well and he is progressing wonderfully. We will be headed home today.

We also learned that the pathology report came back and all lymph nodes were negative. We are feeling really blessed!

I'm sure we will be looking for more advice on ways to adjust to the new Popi. He's doing a good job with pain management but the coughing does really hurt.

God Bless!

Fantastic news, hope Popi continues to do well and that the pain can be controlled. Good luck.

It is wonderful to hear that things are progressing so well. Six days and home from the hospital is great!!! It looks like now he can focus on healing and getting used to his new digestive system. Remember:

1. Small meals six or seven times a day
2. No drinking (only sips) with meals
3. Chew, chew, chew
4. Be careful with dairy products and sugar
5. Schedule time an hour after each meal to drink liquids
6. Protein and complex carbohydrates are preferred

Have him try to walk a little farther each day

Best Regards,

We are home and resting. We had a visit by the home nurse today who helped answer many ?'s and calm some fears. Popi is very comfortable at home :) The location where his chest tube was placed is painful. We are changing the dressings and keeping it clean hoping it heals up soon.

He has oxygen at home because his levels were dropping. Our goal is to be off it when we return for the two week checkup.

Pain and coughing but each day is getting better.
