The Pain...is a Pain

I've had an interesting time the last couple of days. My stomach pain ramped up to new, scary level. Last night was a lesson in how to get through the night because you hate going to the ER so much. I literally moaned myself to sleep.

Saw my doctor this morning. I have fought low potassium for several years now, and that is once again an issue. That can cause the chills and abdominal cramping and constipation I've had. So now I get to take the big "horse" pill 3 times a day instead of 2.

Other blood tests were done, but I don't know the results yet. I know my liver was being checked, my CEA, not sure what else. When I was there discussing it all, I felt that fear again. What if this all has something to do with THAT BEAST. Hopefully (and probably) not.

Still, it would be lovely to get rid of this pain.

*hugs*
Gail

    Low potasium can be scary.
Hope you feel better soon Gail. I know I get leg cramps from low potasium so I have a bannanna every day and that does the trick. If I miss one day I'll be up at 4.00am with terrible cramps in my legs but that's about all I get. My mother-in-law has gone to the hospital several times from low potasium so you gotta keep up on it. Here's praying everything else is normal.
    Take care, CJ

    Sorry to Hear about PAIN
It's no fun, especially stomach cramps. I went through that for a while with the CPT11 but this time around it's not bad. They cut back on my pre-meds.
    Hope you feel better soon

I know that JBG has constant intestinal cramping and does take meds for it. She had always attributed these cramps to current chemo(Irinotecan & 5FU, I think). Her dosage has been reduced, but nothing seems to help. They are really tough. I'll mention the potassium to her the next time we speak.

Thanks for posting this, and I certainly hope it is resolved soon.

    Luv,

Pain is such an issue and so scary. I pray it is nothing serious. I'm with you and try not to go to Erin the middle of the night but it sure makes for a long night. Jeff

    dear gail,

sorry to here about the pain, its possible your body is telling you something is wrong, hopefully not the beast.

pop the 3 big pills if advised, but just for fun ask you doc why ?

and the answer of 42 is not good enough.

you may benefit in having your doctor confirm that your gi track from top to bottom is working really well.

low potassium should be picked up from your veges, mine is super high.

    just food for thought.

    hugs,
    pete

ps if your doc cannot confirm your gi is good you may =have to keep searching, maybe a good naturopath might help.

    Those horse pills
Gail, if you are taking the potassium pills that I've taken it can be dissolved in water and taken as a slurry. Makes them much easier to take. They don't have much taste - kind of gritty. Or, you can chew them up and follow with a big glass of liquid. It might be worth checking with your pharmacist to see if you have the ones you can take this way. I sure hope this pain turns out to be nothing serious, certainly not THE BEAST.
