This has nothing to do with anything on the board but I just had to share.
Yesterday my daughter (18) came home with bad pains to the left pelvic area
So I took her to the emergency room where we sat and waited for hours on end,
When we finally got seen to they did the usual scans, CT and MRI and found a
15 cm cyst on her left overie. My wife and I were devistated. Cut a long story short
She had surgury ar 6 am this morning to remove it. All went well but now they have sent it to
Pathology because it was different than normal ( green liquid inside rather than clear).
So its that waiting time again. Sorry to post something that is not part of the topics on the
board but I just had to,

    Be Concerned, But Not-Overly...
    Until it comes back as something other than most common...

    I have known many females that have had ovarian cysts, most always it is not serious.

    Of course any time one of your children has something going on, you are concerned. But due to your condition you might be a little more overly concerned.

    At this point I'd wait and see how it plays out from the pathology reports.

    Simple cysts
    In her agegroup are essentially always benign. Believe it or not, the color is of no consequence. Pain always heralds something of consequence actually happening to the cyst, like torsion, infarction, hemmorhage, of infecgtion. Better out than in, but don't panic.

    What a night indeed!
    Ovarian cysts can be super painful...I'm sorry she had to go thru that.

    Pease don't feel you should apologize for bringing a life happening to this board...life goes on all around us in spite of our own beastie, and what's happening in your life matters. (not to mention it's theraputic to get stuff out when it's something scary).

    I'm sure her cyst will heal up fine, and she will be ok.

    My wife, DrMary, had an ovarian cyst of similar size when she was in high school. There were no long-term effects other than a good-sized scar. Nowadays, she might not even get that. Mary went on to have three very healthy and also pretty big babies. Take heart, Doug

    I agree with longtermsurvivor - the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the color was infection, not cancer. With mine, they did a rush in the lab to check while I was still in the OR, so they knew whether they needed do biopsies elsewhere while they still had me open. Surgery's different nowadays (that was 40 years ago) and so it's not such a big deal to go back and check.

    However, I'm hoping they don't have to. Keep us posted.

    So So good news.
    First off, thank you all for your kind and warm thoughts and prayers.
    Well we got back a Preliminary pathology report and we met with an OBGYN / ONC
    She explained that the staging of this is as follows.
    Benign.
    Borderline Malignent Potential
    Malignent.

    She said our daughter was Borderline Malignent Potential. She said it is not cancer but she
    wants to do Robotic surgery (DaVinci) in a couple of weeks to remove some lymphs and then
    MRI and blood work every three months then on. We spoke to a family friend who happens to
    be an OBGYN / ONC (but halfway across country) and he said wait for the official pathology
    From John Hopkins and see if there is still no cancer wether or not it says it is BMP, you do
    Not need to do surgery, just the MRI and blood to monitor it..
    Our daughter is home now and recovering, so hopefully no more needless ops.

    When we know more I'll let you all know.

    My daughter had the same problems with her ovaries and had to get one of them removed. I am not too sure of the color of the liquid that came out of it but it was sent off to a pathologist for follow-up. That was 6 years ago she is doing great these days.

    We will keep her in prayer

    Good to hear your daughter's results came back as non-cancerous. Still, it's got to have you all scared. I agree with (oops - forgot who) - - things like this affect your emotional and mental state, and that affects your well being - that makes it relate to your cancer/treatment, etc., and makes it subject material for this site, in my book. I feel that just sharing your concerns/fears with peers helps - even if there's not a single practical thing they can do to help. Hoping for more good news for you all.
