Beautiful Flowers~PET Scan~Tucson
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers, they came at the perfect time, and they are absolutely beautiful!! I love purple!! It so happened that I was out with my ex husband (we get along great divorced) and I just left my appointment with palliative care, making arrangements for end of life care, and filing DNR DNI 5 wishes paperwork etc. My ex husband was super sad and of course I was crying just thinking of the fact that I'm making these arrangements sickens me to the core. I cry everyday for my kids, ex husband, family, friends who are all going to be very sad someday because of me and this vicious disease. But I hold up as best I can and keep on keeping on. It's really difficult because all these arrangements are so fresh yet from losing my Mom to lung cancer just 4 years ago, then grandma died 9 days later, flash backs of her ending days in hospice, etc. So yes those flowers were the light of my day!!
I have a PET scan tomorrow 3-6-12 I'll let you all know how that goes.
See Doc for results 3-7-12
Take of for Tucson 3-8-12 to see my best friends son get married, staying there for 4 days, which will be a great change, it's really cold here in South Dakota. I'm so grateful I have enough strength to get to another event, and see another milestone. Next is to see my youngest, my Son, graduate high school in May.
PET Scan has me nervous, and numb all at the same time. I'm so used to them coming back bad, that I'm numb to it, and yet they still get my guts in a knot, why is that?
Anyhow, I'm thinking and praying for all of you every day, and thank you SO SO SO much for always being here and the BEAUTIFUL flowers!!!

Kari, I am so happy that you loved the flowers and they arrived at just the right time. When I first looked at your new picture, I had to take a double take because I look just like you. Bald and beautiful!! Well, at least the bald part for me.
This whole disease sucks not only for us but for our family and friends, too, probably more for them. You are a strong woman and I am so proud of you. I know it's hard, but when the time comes and hopefully that is years away, you will have taken care of some of the hardest decisions to be made. Take some comfort in knowing the pain you saved whomever would have to do that.
I'm happy to read that you are getting out of town and will be with your best friend and away from all the daily cancer reminders. Have a wonderful time!!
Please also try not to worry about the scans and results of them, it really won't change anything other than making you anxious. I'm hoping with all I can that there is some improvement from the last ones. Keep us updated.

Kari... you are such a lovely woman. Words fail to describe what a true treasure you are to me and the many others you have touched. Miss Kari I only know you via CSN but I know you have a beautiful heart and that you are such a wonderful person. Your beauty shines through in your writing and uplifting manner. When I was undergoing chemo, I told my nurse how she had a little Mary Poppins in her. This nurse had a sunny disposition and made it a point to be positive with her patients. You remind me of that nurse. Kari... your Mary Poppins shines through time and time again. I love you and I pray God grant you peace of mind and heart as you make preparations for your next phase in life.
Oh, Kari those flowers, although lovely, are a poor substitute to your inner and outer BEAUTY. I wish you miles of loves and hugs to you and yours.

Sounds like the flowers cheered you up also, these pinks are amazing. I am sorry you had to go through all of the eol stuff, and as hard as it is to face the reality of this disease, it is also such a relief knowing that our kids will not have to make these decisions. Once I got through it, it gave me such a calmness. As my sister who went with me said, it is another selfless thing that you have done to make the process easier for those who love us.
Will say prayers that your pet scan this week shows stability if not better news.
Now for the fun part, enjoy the warm weather and your trip to Tuscon. One of my brothers lives there and invited me again last week when I spoke with him. I am considering it. Just thinking about sunshine and 75 - 80 degree weather is enough to make me jump at the chance.
Always thinking of you and will be with you in spirit for your scan.

My dear friend Kari,
I am very sorry that you have to go through difficult time. I am glad that flowers surprised you and warmed your heart. Nobody know what the future will hold, you is taking care of your children and they will appreciate. While this illness is *** (They do not allow us cussing here), we developed a CSN special bond which is helping us to sense across the country.
Please enjoy warm weather and world around you.family and friends.
