Mom will start Abraxane chemo today for her.Any one have this kind before?
this looks similar to taxol. I wonder what made them choose this rather than taxol and/or carboplatin. Did they explain?
Keep us posted. Mary Ann
Abraxane, Taxol & Taxotere are all taxanes--the same cytotoxic agent in different formulations.
If your mom had an adverse reaction to taxol or taxotere, the doctor would switch to Abraxane as the taxane is bound to albumin & more likely to be tolerated by her. Some people can't tolerate taxol because of a different component of the drug that is used to make taxol water soluble.
Moms cancer came back, now they will try Abraxane. She has Tumors now where the Divinci surgrey scars are isnt that strange? and vaginal cuff. So soon after her treatments. They will shrink the tumors and do radiation.
