in Colorectal Cancer #1
Hi everyone, my husband had rectal cancer, had radiation/Xeloda first then Anterior/Posterior repair with Colostomy (that was the most aweful thing I've ever been through - luckily he doesn't remember a lot of it) unfortunately he had a liver lesion found at surgery making treatment different. He is 3 months out from surgery, we finally have some pretty good healing with posterior wound - going to wound care & whirlpool 3 times a week. Our Oncologist is planning to give us chemo education on 11/29, check his wound for healing & then start the Avastin, 5FU, Folfox, Oxaliplatin. I have found your discussion board so helpful. It helps to hear other people's ideas, suggestions and helpful hints. Thank you.

    There will be many coming in to say Hi more fully and eloquently, but let me be the first to say "Glad you've found us!" You'll find plenty of support, information and ideas here :)

    Hi there!
    Sorry you have to join us but these people on here are great for resources as well as emotional support. My husband also has rectal cancer and had a tough surgical recovery. I will say though we are 9 months out and he is doing well. Today he has his first set of scans since April (a little nerve racking!) Keep up the terrific attitude and faith (read your profile). Feel free to ask anything here I learned there are no dumb questions around here! Stephanie

    Welcome to our group. We are a wonderful bunch of people all here to help one another. We will share our experiences with you. Please ask any questions that you may have including the chemo treatment as most of us has experience some of what your husband will be going on. Remember at every appointment to bring a pad of paper and pen as your doctor will be telling you things and you might think you remember, but chances are you won't. With the oxy your husband will feel sensitivity to cold things by touch and drink. Best of luck to both of you and remember we are always here to support you and your husband.
