Just wanted to wish my Marine Corps Brothers a Happy 236th Birthday.

Proud to have served, and proud for all of the others that have gone before and after me...

    Once a marine always a marine, my ex-partner a gunny sgt/force recon, his 2 son's were in the corp as well.

    Once A Marine...
    You are correct, it's a brotherhood much like the relationship we all share...cancer and survivorship.

    It's a bond that nobody else can really understand or appreciate unless you have actually experienced and lived it....

    Some good, some bad....all unforgetable....

    Semper Fi to all my fellow former Marines. Even forty years later, I can still remember vividly many of the experiences that I went through. And, now in the toughest time of my life battling the beast, I call upon some of the strengths I learned there. I still remember my drill instructor saying: "You *&**&^& made it through my &*^$#@# boot camp, so you can do anything" So, Happy Birthday to the USMC and God bless and protect all of our service personnel and may they be home soon.

    Thanks for posting the Birthday wishes. Happy Birthday to all my Marine brothers and sisters. I enjoyed your story about the Gas Chamber, aah the memories : )

    Yes, until we graduate, we are lower then whale crap, but we learn that we can do anything if we put our mind to it. There are 2 phrases my Senior Drill Instructor taught us and they have stayed with me for all my life. Like John, I called upon the training from years gone by to get thru the rough road of surgery, treatment and recovery.

    1- There are only 3 things you can't do.....You can't slam a revolving door, you can't put used toothpaste back into a used toothpaste tube and you can't strike a match on a wet bar of soap, anything else you can do, now move....

    2- We have done so much with so little for so long, that we can do anything with nothing forever...

    Forty one years ago I married a Marine. I have never had a problem with him remembering my birthday...Nov. 10th. In fact, during the early years, while he was active duty, we always had a great party to attend.
    Don't do much partying these days, but I'm sure happy to be celebrating my 63 birthday today.

    With out you guys we would not have the freedom we have today; I tip my hat to all in the Arms Forces Men and Women.

    I have three of my cousins serving in the military right now two of them are in Special Forces. I remember when they were just children playing in the front yard of my aunt house, it is almost like yesterday. They all grew up in Honduras and they all joined the military and made it there home when they came to the US.

    We are proud of them but often worry because we are never allowed to know where they are deployed to.

    God bless all of you for serving your Country and keeping us safe.

    I didn't know you were a marine, among your many other talents! My oldest brother (the only one I have now!) was in the marines. In fact he's getting marine stuff for Christmas from me. He likes getting that stuff! He's getting a shirt and a Marine Corp tervis tumbler. His wife gave him a 19 inch flat screen TV with DVR player for Father's Day and his daughter and her family gave him the Gomer Pyle DVD's! So he's all ready now! Thank you for your service!

    Six Years...
    Thanks Jan...yes I was in for a total of six years active duty..and another ten reserves. I didn't make twenty between my job and finishing my Bachelor's Degree.

    I went back to school at the University of South Florida early in 2000 to finish my degree. At the time I was still in the Reserves and working a lot of overtime.

    Anyways, LOL. I got my AA Degree in 1980 after the Marines, took me 26 years before I finally got my Bachelors/Information Technology B.S.I.T from USF in 2006.

    John and other Vets,

    I have never served, but I appreciate all of your sacrifices for your country. I travel for business; longest trips have been 10 days, most generally 2-3. I cannot imagine being away from my family and home for weeks, let alone a year or more. You are all greatly appreciated for the sacrifices you make.

    My trips don't include some crazy shooting at me either, and don’t require me sleeping on the rocks, more experiences I cannot even imagine. You all are brave and appreciated!!!

    Hi David

    I see you are a RCA man, I have two a P51 and a Cessna 172 , I can’t fly them anymore because my brain will not double task after all the radiation. My Son sure enjoys them and all I can do is watch.
