Hi again and first of all THANK YOU so much for the warm welcome after my last post.

I am now 6 days into the first round of FOLFOX and I am wondering if my symptoms are typical.

Basically I have very little side effect other then the first 2 days of cold sensitivity in my fingers.
I am feeling a little 'under the weather' and can sleep more then usual but is that it ?

Or is it going to hit me harder down the road when the chemicals accumulate in my body ?

The nurse told me that -of course- everybody is different and to consider myself lucky as side effects should normally have hit by now. But then again, my nurse hasn't been on the receiving end of this treatment.

What were your initial reactions to FOLFOX ?

Thank you again !

Todd

    Side Effects
Hi: My side effects started out with a bang - lots of neuropathy for example. But I fixed that with supplements and a lower dose of oxaliplatin. I have found that my side effects have increased over time especially now that I've just finished treatment 12. I get tired for longer periods and my diarrhea is hard to control (effect of irenotecan). I also get the sweats and gout in my big toe (apparently gout can be caused by chemotherapy - didn't know that!). But everyone is different! Some folks have sailed through it, others have had to stop midway. For me, there is definitely a cycle - two days after the 5Fu pump comes off, I get the fatigue and diarrhea and fuzzy tongue thing. When my tongue becomes unfuzzy, the fatigue and diarrhea stop! Usually lasts 3-5 days.
