My Husband

Options
My husband was diagnosed last Dec. had a colon resection and did ok he went thru 12weeks of aggressive chemo at 6mths he had a PET scan and found another tumor, was scheduled for surgery 2wks ago called a Whipple procedure, the Dr. was unable to remove the tumor, so they had to reattach his intesines to go straight to his stomach . Now he has such bad diarrhea that he can't hardly make it to the bath room . has anyone had anything similiar? My husband seems to think this is just the way it is but I feel it shouldn't be, and he doesn't want to go back to the hospital.
Please help!!
Thank you
Joy

It's time for you to look for another colorectal surgeon! Try to
locate one that is not of the same association or group.

You haven't provided much information, but basing it on
the small amount given, I can't understand why your husband
wasn't given an ostomy to alleviate the fast output.

There can be many reasons for not being able to complete
intestinal surgery, so it would be difficult to fault the surgeon
for stopping mid-point. But why no ostomy?

I would get another professional opinion as soon as possible.

    Stay well,

    John

    diarrhea
Your husband could get really dehydrated which is dangerous. When I was in that situation, i found this website to be helpful http://fightcolorectalcancer.org/awareness/treatment/managing_side_effects/diarrhea

    Take care ...
