Very Worried

I saw the other pain dr. today. He told me we can not go on giving me nerve block shots in the neck much longer. My other doctor who is on vacation didn't mention that. I, however, did realize I can not keep getting such large shots in the same spot in the neck forever. I was not prepared to be without them soon. I see him again next week. He said there is a medicine he could add to my gabapentin and amitriptolyne. He doesn't always get the results he wants, but every patient is different. Like I am not loopy enough from my drugs I have now, lol!! He is hesitant for me to use a pain creme because of the SE's. My pain goes away with regular shots. I hate to go back to the way it was before. I needed help dressing, could hardly do any house work, cooking was hard because I couldn't lift my arms and carry bowls, pots, etc. Heck, even holding my arm to brush my teeth was hard. Drying off with a towel hurt, washing with a loofa spongey thing hurt. Any gardening is out the window, but that is not til next summer. I am so disappointed.
Even if this doctor has some recommendations, I still want to see my regular doctor for his opinion.

Is this the same as an epidural? I have sciatic nerve pain from a herniated disc and am getting epidurals to help calm the nerve so the pain isn't as bad. Wonder if this is something you could ask about? I also take the 2 meds you take but the epidurals work the best. They are given 3 times a year a month apart. Just a thought?

    Thanks for the epidural
Thanks for the epidural advice. I remember the doc mentioning that but this doc wasn't too thrilled about it for me. The nerve block shots I get are given in the neck. I can't wait til the other dr. comes back, they both have different views on how to treat me. Thanks for repsonding. That is something worth looking into more.

    Another route might be
Another route might be weekly acupuncture treatments. I've sent many of my clients for acupuncture and it's really helped them a lot. Just a thought. Hand in there - I'll keep you in my prayers.

I've heard wonderful things about ...acupuncture
treatments -- I did try them several years ago after yet again another sciatica flare up -- they did help ...

Also, homeopathic medicine may be another route to look into. I have used several doctors in Orange County, California and swear by them.

Do whatever possible to alleviate your ongoing pain. ...

Positive thoughts, and gentle hugs to you.

    Vicki, I never thought of
Vicki, I never thought of homeopathic meds. How do I go about finding help with that?
    I have absolutely no clue.

Hope you can find alternative relief
even though I can't offer much advice since I haven't walked that path. Sounds like acupuncture might be a good option though.
