Jury duty? What happens if....

Here's something I didn't think about happening. I have a jury duty summons tomorrow and had every intention to go. Today I started thinking about the different problems that could come up while court is in session. When I need the restroom, I can't wait until the next breaktime. Has anyone come across this?

Thank's, Gail

    Gail....

I had the doc write the fact that I have a high output ostomy
and can not go without a toilet for more than 1/2 hour.
I am permanently exempt from jury duty.

Having any type of ostomy is a reason for being exempt, since
the court can not be interrupted during trial to accommodate
    a health issue.

In Florida, a call to the clerk's office will usually be all it takes.
In fact, while my wife was recovering from surgery, I told them
I was her caretaker, and they gave me an exemption for three years.

    Stay well,

    John

    Whew!
Well ok....I just got off the phone with my Dr. and he said I need a year off of jury duty and then we will see how I am doing with that. Why was I so worried? He agreed right away and is writing a letter now.

So if you do have this come up...here is your answer :)

    Thanks John. This is
Thanks John. This is something I just did not think about until it happened. Heck, I'm just now getting the confidence to go out places for a longer length of time, but not to get stuck in a court room for hours.

    Thank you! :) Gail

I didn't want my onc to reveal too much,so all she wrote, was
that i couldn't sit for too long.....The young court employee read my note, looked at me butt before she could say anything, i lifted my shirt so only she could see and said: "Here's my real documentation....".....She gasped (I've trained my stoma to wink) and said "I'll be right back"....In a minute or so she gave me copies of everything, told me to save it and that i was excused from serving jury duty forever......I've served a number of times and got
full pay as i had still been working......No way do i want to serve now, regardless of the money,as just to get to court is an adventure now!!!!!!!!

The Jury has reached a Verdict
You could be excused. I have received the jury duty summons before and since I'm on a regular chemo schedule, if I was selected for a case that ran 2-3 weeks or more it would be a problem. I had my oncologist write me a note and that was that.
I would love to be on a jury, I can tell if someone is guilty just by looking at them!

    jury duty
I am a caretaker for my husband and received a jury duty notice. All you need to do is
give the notice to your doctor or office....they will take care of it. I was excused from
    jury service for one year.

    Yup
Know exactly how you are feeling. I've not been called since my diagnosis but would have to definitely contact my doctor for a letter if it ever came up. Glad you got it resolved.

    I have been summoned
twice since Robert's stage iv dx...I just filled out request to be excused online, given the fact I am primary caregiver to my husband with stage iv cancer....excused both times (with the disclaimer I can be recalled next year)..*sigh*
