My Aunt has Small Cell Carcinoma and I want to get some info and help for her. I don't see it on here anywhere and wondered if anyone knows where on this site I should ask questions. She is on carboplatin and camptosar. She has no appetite and we need some suggestions for things that she might feel like eating. Perhaps some of you might have some thoughts. Jim's appetite has been pretty good so this has not been an issue so much for us. Any thoughts? Thanks so much
April

    Platin based drugs......
To my knowledge and its only my thoughts that Platin based drugs tend to have that nauseating, tiring, eating preventative effect on most everyone that is on it...I found while doing Oxaliplatin that most any food with spicy base was pallatible for me. I think it actually overwhelmed the awful tastes that went along with the Platin based chemo...
Homemade chili was a staple for me and salty crackers...warm sunkist orange soda and warm ocean spray cran grape was also a staple even though it was carbonated it was great...I honestly think that chili was what I lived on while doing chemo...That and country style ribs which are very spicy bar-b qued... I know, not very healthy choices but in the fight and hungry, one can not be to picky.....
Chili in moderate amounts. Maybe 2 or 3 spoonfuls, or a half a bowl several times a day, with crackers and peanut butter on the crackers if I could stand it. Sometimes yes sometimes not...seems as though my first week of chemo was hardly nothing to eat or drink at all then the second week was gorging on everything from coffee to coconuts.....Eat what you can while you can was how I got through......and do not get discouraged, you will find something that suits her fancy and she may want it every night and day.....good health to all..........buzz

Thanks so much Buzz, I think
Thanks so much Buzz, I think my cousin is making her egg salad to try. Just found out she may have a UT infection so that might be making her queezy too. Thanks again and I'll be passing this on to her.
Will be thinking of you on the 11th Buzz.

Not sure what info that I'd could offer, but wanted to let you know that you and her are being thought of.

You may find some info under
You may find some info under the rare cancers. How about asking if you can start a discussion on it. I will check it out.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt, Blessngs!
