I'm from Australia which has a high skin cancer rate. I've had 3 bcc's on my face since 2004, and something on my back I am now getting checked.
Today's Sunday papers had a story about Professor Ian Frazer stating he is about one year off developing a vaccine to prevent bcc and scc. Not melanoma sorry. Prof Frazer invented the gardisil vaccination for cervical cancer. He is studying why, if two people spend the same amount of time in the sun, why one is more prone to skin cancer and the other not. His research is indicating getting a particular HPV virus makes a person more prone to getting bcc and scc. Identifying the exact virus should lead to a vaccination.

Would be interesting to watch developments in that one
