a year on

Next month it will be a year since I finished my chemo for stage 3 colon cancer. I am having 3 month check-ups at the moment and all have been good so far. I just take it a day at a time.

When I was first diagnosed you guys were there for me. I was so scared and frightened. I am 44 and have 2 young daughters. I felt so sick with the chemo and suffered badly with numbness in my hands and feet. A year on I feel almost back to normal. I get tired easily but the numbness has pretty much gone. I feel well and really positive about the future.

When I first joined the site and was so scared of my future. You guys gave me so much hope and taught me to live in the present and above all not to believe every statistic I read!I don't know what is around the corner. I don't know if the cancer will come back. But I do know through cancer I found a group of special people. I joined a club nobody wants to join. Reading your posts helped me get through this. From the moment I signed up as snowyswitzerland I never felt alone. To me that meant more than words can express.

I simply wanted to say thank you and let you know I am still lurking reading all of your posts and thinking of you. I am doing good for the moment. Next big tests in September.

Big big hugs xxxxxxx

Terrific news for you! Hope it stays that way for you. I just completed my 3rd recurrence and fought this past year to get back to a wait and watch state. I've knocked cancer down 3 times now....I always worry about #4 coming around. I just finished my 7th year of actively fighting cancer. I've been busy working on my book these past few months and check in here to see what's happening with everyone. Take care.

And Wendy, welcome aboard...buckle your seatbelt and hold on tight and remember to keep your hands in feet inside the car while the ride is moving, LOL:)

I checked out your story and wanted to wish you the best of luck. If I can battle for 7-years, I know you can hang in there as well.
