OT -THE HEAT SPELL

My husband came home from work today and told me a worker died last evening from the heat.He passed out. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.Today they had ice water for the workers. My husband took his and poured it all over him.It was 115 at 7:00 this morning.

Then I called a lady I know. She just got home from the hospital. She had a heat stroke and was admitted. She owns a dairy farm and luckily her son was there. She got this horrific headache and passed out.She felt funny before that.In the hospital for 2 days.

One other case a man died in his apt.No air conditioner. His mother found him and it is believed he had been dead for several days.

People's animals are dying because of no or insuffient water.

I'm glad I cancelled my blood test today. It was almost 100 degrees.

Be careful to all who are going through this heat spell. It doesn't take much.

I get so worried about what
I get so worried about what my electric bill will be because our air conditioner runs all the time. But it's so hot, we have to let it run. I need to just feel greatful that we have it. It's so awful about the people who are suffering and dying from this heat. This may not be "global warming" but it sure feels like it.

On the news this am, they
On the news this am, they said that more people die from the heat each year than cold. I can believe it!

We are having a little break in our heat because we have been cloudy the last few days, so we are in the 90's now. Yay! Even though we have had rain the past week, we are still about 10" low for the year--still officially a drought, but not nearly as bad as what our Texas neighbors are suffering. Weird weather seems to be the norm now, doesn't it?

We're still pretty hot and humid
The storms and rain seem to keep going around us and the grass in crunchy. I've never handled heat well and now after chemo it seems worse. Just trying to stay cool and still get laundry etc. done. I, too, am grateful for air conditioning. They just took and older couple (65 & 70) from their home to the hospital and removed thier 30 cats from the home because there was no air conditioning, no running water, and temp inside was 103. We all need to stay cool and hydrated!
