Just returned from Oncologist visit. All is well, (smiling) I can go every 6 months now instead of every 3, also makes me smile.
Thanks for asking Ayse so I figured I'd post it.

Too funny though and you sisters might get a kick out of this one.
I say to him, " Gee doc, I can't believe that I gained more weight", hoping for some encouragement or even a little white lie about the effects of chemo and steroids on the body. Ladies, I'm almost 2 years out now so I really know that it's due to my love of food....come on I'm Italian. But I pay this guy to be nice right?! :)

His response:.....get ready........wait for it......

I THINK IT'S DUE TO SNACKING.....Do you snack a lot ?
It just struck me so funny.......in case any of you out there didn't know this I wanted to be the first to tell you.

Ya gotta have a sense of humor in this battle and thank goodness I was in a good mood :)

Wanda thanks for sharing your good news, and now I know what my problem is. Too many snacks for an Italian girl makes her gain weight. :)

    I just laughed out loud!
Thanks for that...I just laughed out loud and I'm at work! I, too, have gained weight. And though I am not Italian I live with an Italian husband who cooks and that almost counts as being Italian yourself. I remember when I was going through chemo, I actually lost 20 lbs. It was a steady slow drop every week. My onc, who is Italian, kept asking me, are you eating? I finally said, of course, I'm eating. My husband's Italian...how could I not eat? He would be so offended! Gotta love it!

    You're so right
You have to keep a sense of humor. If I've gained weight it's the potato chips that keep calling my name. And the ice cream, and the lasagna. But I keep up with the exercise and have added yoga. Feels good!

So, so happy for you, Wanda
And about the weight gain--I've been on Zoloft for 18 months and Arimidex for a year. I've gained 15 pounds since that time. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and try to eat sensibly most of the time. Well guess what?! Both my onc. and PCP tell me that BOTH Zoloft and Arimidex cause weight gain! I am now being weaned off Zoloft (I don't think I need it anymore anyway). Of course, I'll stay on the Arimidex. Maybe that will help me lose at least half of the 15 pounds!

It's not always the food--sometimes with these drugs you're fighting a losing battle. I try not to stress too much, but I have to be honest--it really bothers me sometimes.

    Celebrate your good news, Wanda!

    Hugs, Renee

Thanks goodness for that medical opinion, LOL
And here I thought the added weight I was carrying around just magically appeared. Boy I do love some salty,crunchies...and some sweets... and some gooey chewies. But I hate that E word (exercise)

    Thanks for the giggle,

    Jennifer

Congratulations on your good news! It's grand to hear you get to come in every 6 months as apposed to every 3. I have "snacking issues" as well. I agree humor is so good for the soul!

Wanda .. Yahoo! Good news indeed.
Celebrate -- getting back to normal, or what we breast cancer gals know as our new normal .. testing, scans, and bi-yearly Oncologist appointments.

I just want any Oncologist .. to say "its okay that you continue to carry around a few extra pounds, ... after all you've been thru with breast cancer, and all" .. okay, just my wishful thinking.

ahhh.. snacking -- hits us Russian Gals, as well. LOL.

So hap hap happy for you!
