I ws blessed not to have gotten thrush but there are many on this board who have. You'll get responses...guaranteed. I believe the Superthread has a section on that as well.

    Thrush
I had thrush 3 times during treatment. No iv's for me, I had liquid medicine. The meds work well. Our bodies are under stress. I made sure that everything was cleanned, did not reuse straws, toothbrush soaked in Listerine and then rinsed really well, could not tolerate mint.
I have Type II diabetes that is usually under tight control, treatment made my blood sugar go all over the charts. I also had thrush after my mother passed away, needed to take two rounds of medicine that time.

Throw out the toothbrush and sterilize the new one daily (and then change in a week or so). It is very easy to get reinfected - if you have any intimate contact with someone, consider asking if he/she can be treated as well, as partners tend to harbor the fungus and reinfect.

You should see improvement within 2-3 days of treatment. I hope it clears up, but 2-3 cases during treatment is the norm. Whee.

    3 timer here
    Vancouver Girl,

I had the dreaded thrush 3 times myself. I was given nysatin the first and last time and dyflucen(sp?) the second time. Watch out for the dyflucen as I hear it is hard on the liver.

I don't know if this solved it but someone here suggested probiotics. I used that on my third go-round in addition to the nysatin and it was gone significantly faster. I stayed with the probiotics and never got thrush again. Of course, could just be a coincidence since it seems like most here only get it 2 or 3 times. Who knows, but in my own mind I think it helped. And definitely agree with Dr. Mary on the new toothbrush every couple of days.

Hope you get over it fast.
