    My oldest son (17) is going hiking on the AT (Appalachian Trail) this weekend, his first overnight backpacking experience. I picked him up a nice backpack. They've changed the gear so much since I last did backpacking. I'd like to go with him but I'm not ready to do 18 miles over 2 days/1 night. I hope to get ready over the summer and do an overnight with him in the Fall.

    I guess you're going car camping? That's a lot of fun too. My wife is not a fan of it but I did get her to came on Cape Cod once but I had to buy an air mattress and make it like a hotel. That was fun but I prefer roughing it...
