I have been on Arimidex since Dec 2010. Doc said side effects should get better after 6 months. I am getting very impatient! The stiffness I have is aweful. Anyone have any words of wisdom? Oncologist this week said, stick with it. Hard to do! But I don't want the cancer to come back so I guess I'm stuck.

    Welcome, mckevnic. I have
Welcome, mckevnic. I have been taking Arimidex for almost three years. I am sorry to say that I have no words of wisdom for you. The stiffness (and painful feet) continue. I just believe that the benefits outweigh the ouchiness. Stick with it! xoxoxoxo Lynn

    Armidex since October
I have been taking armidex since October. The stiffness, and muscle pain in my back and shoulder got to be more than I wanted to tolerate. So, I decided to go to a chiropractor...I did mention my intent to both my primary and oncologist, and both said ok.
I chose a chiropractor that used the ProAdjuster and started @two months ago. I was not sure if it was the osteoporosis, armidex, or other meds causing this...or not. What I do know is that the ProAdjuster adjustments and manual massages that follow have almost eliminated my back aches and stiffness. Now, to my amazement....my frozen shoulder problem is almost gone! I had thought would have to just live with these aches and pains, but not the case. Sooooo, I am not suggesting this is the right approach for everyone or anyone else....but it has workded for me and I am amazed. Never went to a chiropractor before and did not like the idea of being bent or twisted by someone........but this computerized ProAdjuster method of chiropracting just works wonders for me.

    almost 3 years for me
I think if I hadn't promised my two daughters that I would take it faithfully....I probably would have quit on one of my bad days. For me, the side effects have decreased, but the main one I complain about is the fatigue.

    2 years for me!
I have some side effects but not too bad. I'm in a Yale study called The Lean Study. I have lost weight and I need to walk 10,000 steps a day. My hands were stiff but since the first few weeks of the study they no longer are stiff and sore. They have done prior studies that found that exercising 30 minutes a day 5 times a week relieved Arimidex side effects. Walking is a great way to do it and it's not necessary to push too hard. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the info
Thanks so much for the info and your post made me realize something. I have been achy more lately, but I have also not been walking my usual 3 miles/day because I just can't tolerate the heat. Because I am on cardiac meds and have low blood pressure, the extreme heat makes me woozy at times.

My sister has an elliptical machine that she and her husband are using religiously and he used to be the biggest couch potato of them all! Danny and I have been putting off this purchase because of the price, but you are making me rethink this. I'll keep you posted, but I do want a piece of equipment that I will use and not one that becomes a clothes hanger.

Anyone have an elliptical? The model that Wendy is using is no longer made, but I could get it used.

And it does make sense that exercise will help because movement actually lubricates our joints and helps them operate better. It seems counterintuitive to get up and move when you are hurting, but it really does help.

I've been on Arimidex for just about a year
and I'm doing very well on it. I occasionally have joint stiffness/pain--especially after sitting a while and then getting up. All in all though, it's really going well. I haven't been able to lose any weight and I think the Arimidex may be contributing to that--I'll just have to try harder.

Cynthia--in answer to your question about the elliptical--I live in Phoenix so walking outside with my dog is not an option for the next few months. I go to my gym and use the elliptical several times a week. I've been going to a gym for over 25 years and I have to say it's my favorite piece of cardio equipment. You can go forward, backwards and set the pace as well as the resistance. I find it the least boring of all equipment. Good luck.

    Thanks every one
I will be starting arimidex in a couple of weeks. I will keep up the membership at the YMCA to help and make an appointment with the chiropractor.
I do prefer walking outside but that will have to wait till it cools off......
