Question: Does your sugery side acts different than the other side (e.g. right vs. left)?

Hi my Beautiful ladies! I hope you are having a great time during this holiday weekend.

I wanted to share my current situation. I know I am not going crazy. I feel with each treatment, and week that passes, I get different pains (throbbing) and feelings. However, I feel them more prominent on the side I had surgery, and this side (the right side) tends to take longer to heal. For example, I have a white spot on my tonsil, the right one (Dr. says its yeast from the steroids). The left tonsil is OK. I get ovarian pain in the right side. The left ovary is OK. I have pain under my arm (and a dent), and the pain carries on to parts of my arm. The left arm is OK. Yesterday, I felt a little pain on my hip bone, on the right side only! But today feeling better. Is this possible? Or am I going crazy? When you remove nodes (they removed 10 for me), does the blood flow (among other things) of the body changes, for that side? I am just wondering if any of you have experienced the same thing? Oh! My right under arm smells stronger than the left too. :-/

    Well, I'm not a medical professional but
    I'm thinking removal of a ton of nodes (I had 23 removed) does make a difference. I'm not sure if the blood flow changes things--but I have to believe that the lymph fluid pathways have been changed. I'm 18 months post surgery (lumpectomy and axillary node dissection) and still have a lot of pain on that side--armpit, breast, trunk--sometimes even my back. It has definitely gotten better but may never be totally gone.

    Maybe we'll hear from one of our medical experts--Cypress Cynthia?

    Thanks for your response Renee. I am sorry you are still experiencing some pain. I hear it goes away with time, but also there are different kinds of exercises you do (like the movements of the hands like a spider, against the wall, one feet away from it). I am lazy, but maybe I should do this and see if it helps.


    P.S. I had a dream last night that I got my eyebrows and eyelashes back, and one side came back like a BUSH! I couldn't see my eye with so much hair! Guess what side that was? THE RIGHT SIDE

    Obviously, this issue is really on your mind. I have dreams like that too. Hoping those brows and lashes come back soon--but in a normal way!

    I'm not sure of the answer
    I'm not sure of the answer to that either, but I guess when you think about it it would make sense. Thus is probably why when you have blood draws or blood pressure checks they do that on the non surgical side. The readings or numbers must be more skewed on the trauma side.

    Now I've had a bilateral mastectomy and my blood work is always done on my right side since my tumor was removed from my left. It's gotta all mean something...

    Removal of lymph nodes does affect that side. And since I had rads too, I have no sweat glands, so, I don't even sweat on that side or under my arm, so no smell for me. As far as pain, I don't have any now. I did at first, but, only for a few months maybe. I was told to do exercises for that arm which I did and it helped me also.
