Tanning and Tamoxafin...Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!

Just wanted to remind my Tamoxafin friends to load up on the sun screen if you're on Tamox. I forgot last weekend, sat out reading my Kindle for 1.5 hours. Got the worst sunburn I've ever had. Pre cancer, it would take me 6 hours to just get pink!

Since I plan on spending my lunch hours at the beach (another plus to this rocking job!)(gypsy skirts and knee high pantyhose...OMG, I'm turning into my mother!) I plan on keeping some spray on screen and a beach chair in my car. Now I just have to figure out how to let my hair bleach out, without suncreen on my face (how does that work with makeup???)

    I wasn't aware of this!! I looked on my Rx bottle and the monograph from the pharmacy and it doesn't list it as a precaution or side effect... Thanks for the heads up. I will definately be carefull when going out.

    For those of us who have always looked like a tomato after 30 minutes in the sun, there's no question of using sunscreen. When I was on chemo I even wore shirts and hats in swimming pools. Darker skin is just not worth the pain or risk of skin cancer for my personal body. My Sister was more like you. She did use suncreen while on chemo, but still not as much as I do.

    Live as well as you can for as long as you can. seof

    I wondered about sun exposure.
    After all that treatment I wondered how careful I need to be. I am good about using sunblock. I guess this is just another fun fact related to T. So now we have eye/vision, hot flashes, moodiness, and now sunburn!

    Thanks for the heads-up! I sat outside during lunch a couple of times, and the tops of my arms cooked up pretty quickly. And my lips started to swell. I was wondering if it was from the Tamoxifen or the Effexor. My vit D level is 8 (down from a whopping 13), so I've been trying to sit out a little at a time. Time for the zinc, I guess.
