Astrocytoma III but acting like a IV.

Saw our son's chemo doc for the first time last week. He's starting Tamovar and radiation tomorrow. The doc said that the pathology report said it was a grade III astrocytoma but acting like a IV. Should have asked what she meant by that but didn't want to in front of our son as I know it can't be good. Has anyone had a doc say something similar? And if so, what is really different in the diagnosis and treatment? Thanks.
