I need your guys in take on this .

in Colorectal Cancer #1
Jorge and I saw the colon surgeon on Thursday to talk and the last ct scan and surgery .she told us the date for surgery is June 6 but I asked if the tumor in the rectum has let go of his back . And she said no but in jan of this year we had a ct scan and all 3 doctors told us yes it did let go of his back. Now here is my Question after doing radiation you need to wait 4weeks for a ct scan .now jorge was done his radiation on april 26 and had his ct scan on may 16th .it was all most 3weeks not 4weeks like it should of been . Do you think it just looks like its still in the back because they didn't wait the 4weeks for it to go back to what it should be .

    Hmm....that's a hard one for me Tina. It makes sense that the tumor could have changed after the ct but I really don't know. Sorry dear!

    Thanks Gail I just don't know what to think anymore maybe I'm thinking to much . Because he is doing so well.

    It's hard to not overanalyze
    I used to do this with myself, but realized that I was driving myself insane. I definitely keep on top of things and still research what else I can do, but there are also times where I just have to let it go and not overanazlyze everything the onc says or doesn't say. But the fact that Jorge is doing well lately is definitely a good thing! Keep us informed as the time for his surgery gets closer.

    I been told to my radio onc if radio works after the treatment
    and he said yes , actually my cea was still droping few moths later thanks to radio as per my onc. opinion!

    You are such a good wife. You and Jorge are a great team. I agree with Lisa on this. Sometimes we over analyze because we feel like we have to do something. At some point, after looking hard at things, you have to trust the docs. I'll be thinking about both of you as the surgery date gets closer.

    I do think we often tend to over-analyze things when it comes to cancer like the others have said. If your doctors have been good so far, chances are they are still doing what is the best thing to do.

    I have not done radiation so I'm not familiar with the protocol. Who said it has to be 4 weeks between treatment and CT scan?

    for what its worth
    my surgeon insisted i wait 12 weeks until after radiation and surgery. well my big tumour just kept on dieing, the net effect of combined radio and chemo.

    some other surgeons were pushing 4 to 6 weeks break.

    as other said don't over analyse, pick the best surgeon. when you have made your choice stick to it and have faith.

    Guideline Used to be 6-Weeks
    There is a window of about 6-weeks between the end of radiation treatments and a resection surgery.

    The window is very tight - operate too early and his intestines still have inflammation making it hard to reconnect 2 good ends. Wait too much longer than 6-weeks and you have a situation where the scar tissue builds up and can hinder a surgery.
