Radiation and nursing bra - it helps!

I've had 22 treatments, breast only in the prone position. I'm fair and have a pretty good sunburn, but no blisters.
I'm not sure about others, but i have found it's very annoying to have anything touch my nipple including clothes. While braless and loose tshirts help, i feel strange without a bra. So I bought a pure cotton nursing bra. It makes me feel better and gives me a little support. I'm lucky to work from home so other people aren't around. Most of the day I leave my boob open to air and lathered up with cream as much as possible. I just wear a lite open v neck sweater to keep my arms warm. Plus I can close it up if others are around.
I like aquaphor however, the generic form is not near as thick or rich. The bra absorbs some of the moisture underneath and prevents me from feeling floppy.
I was surprised they didn't suggest it since its worked to well for me.
I just found this site and am enjoying so many of the posts. I hope I can help others a little bit as much as the comments are helping me.

Thanks for the tips! I will need this when I start rads next month. I have also heard that cabbage leaves are helpful as well. All the best to you!!

    Hmmm.. starting rads next
Hmmm.. starting rads next week and I will definitely keep this in mind. I'm hoping since I've had a double mastectomy and only having rads on my left breast area, I am going to breeze thought this fine. I've got tissue expanders in and my new girls are pretty darn perky (no nipples). I can go bra-less but like you said it feels different. I am currently wearing sports bras, and hoping to continue doing so during rads, hoping this will sop up some of that "greasy" goop from the salves and creams. I will learn as I go, and everyone's input is giving me more and more ideas.

    Thanks,
    Lorrie
