in Breast Cancer #1
I am walking this Sunday for the first time as a survivor. Strangley this makes me super proud! Of course I would have prefered to not have cancer, but I am excited.

Anyone agree or thinks I'm crazy? lol

    You should be extremely proud
    I hope some day to do this myself. Hopefully it will come closer to my area, I see this year the closest walk is in Chicago (I live in Wisconsin). Represent us proud and enjoy every minute of it, we're back here cheering you on. *\0/*

    I did my first walk on 10/10/10--with my family and friends. All I can tell you is that the emotion was so high, I walked through my happy tears.

    Like Renee, I cried through
    Like Renee, I cried through the whole walk the first time. I was getting chemo, bald, and could not believe how many people came out to support the cause. That was in 2002 and 10,000 was a big crowd. Now it is amazing the number of people walking.... so the awareness campaign is working.

    you go girl and be proud! None of us asked to have bc. I walked for the "cure" after 2 of my sisters were dx. I love walking and wish that my arthritic body would cooperate. Instead, I'll be a little angel on your shoulder cheering you on!

    Hi Shonda,
    I have walked in the Race for the Cure for about 8 years. This past October was my first as a "survivor". It was very emotional. Can't wait to do it again this October.

    After reading this post, I checked into any walks in my area. I see one is scheduled for June 11th. Since I will still be going through rads I won't be able to participate. But I might go and walk the Survivor lap, and see what it's all about. Then next year I could nudge some girlfriends to join my team. Hmmmm... I might just be doing this.

    I signed up to do the walk in Newport beach here in California...We now do the "Light the Night" walk in September because my husband is a leukemia survivor and "Susan G Komen" because I am a breast cancer survivor....

    You have every
    right to be proud. We go through a lot to become a survivor. I will be doing our local walk in June and Walk for the Cure later this year. You bet I will be proud to walk as a survivor!

    I will have my shoes ready to "walk" beside you on Sunday.

    Your face doesn't need to be red, Lorrie~ walking is walking~ surviving is surviving! Go for it~ I did a Relay a few weeks ago; and a 5K on Mother's Day in Los Angeles, a 10 Mile ( hard!) walk for the Kathy Ireland BC cure in April, and will be in yet another Relay in July!
