New to site

Hi ya'll. I just joined CSN; wish I had found this site 2 months ago! I have 8 more radiation treatments left (out of 35) and can hardly wait to see this through. I am looking forward to having a sense of taste again, hopefully, and getting enough nutrition by mouth so the peg can come out. I too have moments of real happiness/humor at times, then times I cry for seemingly no reason at all. So regardless of what a few may think, perhaps I'm not losing it afterall!

I wish all of you recovery and good health. Sure does test the mettle, doesn't it though?

Thank you all for sharing.

    Me too
I just joined last week. Finished treatment 12 weeks ago Tuesday, surgery two weeks from Tuesday, so I'm not far ahead of you! I have more moments of happiness now, but still cry for no reason at all too. Congrats on being almost done! Hang in there, it's almost over and then it starts to get better! Finally!

    Hugs

    Hi Ruby

You are in the right place for sure, we all know the pain of going through treatment and the side affects it has on you. Believe me I still cry and don’t know why, so that part is normal. You are almost at the finish line so hope you continue to stay with us here on CSN and also welcome to the Family.

    Welcome Neebies
Glad to see you found your way here....

A lot of experience, knowledge and history on this forum... and some great people. Someone is either going through, gone through, or about to go through it...

More than likely anything you are or will encounter, someone here has been through it and has the T-Shirt as they say. Everyone is more than willing to share that knowledge and experience in hopes of making it easier for the neebies.

    Thoughts and Prayers,
    John

Hi, Rubytoos. As other have said, welcome to the site. Good luck on your remaining rad treatments and yes, the taste does come back, but it varies a lot from individual to individual. Mine was back pretty much after one month post rads (30), but my tongue is still sensitive to spicy foods still after 8 months. This monster tests us to the extreme in physical, emotional, and spirtual ways. Many of us here have learned to endure things that we never thought possible before. Stay strong and stay in the fight. Oh, by the way, even tough guys cry also.

    Hi Rubytoos!
You are getting down to the home stretch with finishing your treatment. It is such a relief not having to get zapped anymore. I didn't find this site until 8 months or a year or so after I was done. There really are great people here that have been of great help to me. Wishing you a quick and easy time wrapping up, and hoping your healing will be speedy.

I am sorry to say Welcome, but Welcome. This is a great site and we will give you support, information or just let you vent when necessary.
You are on the home stretch now, so hang in there and get rid of this nasty disease for good.
The recovery comes slower than you'll like, but it does come. Keep us all posted of your progress.
    All the best,
    Steve

    Depression..
    Hi Ruby,

Depression can present in many ways and you sound like you may be there. Many of us have been there so you are very normal. You have been through a rough time and still have some to go to get your life back (which you will).

I suggest you ask your Docs to refer a Psychiatrist to talk you through what is going on and they can give some mild support meds to help you through this patch. Doing that saved my life.

You will be fine. You have to be patient and measure your recovery by the weeks and months, not by the days.

    Stay positive.
