Recently HBO ran a 5-part mini series called Mildred Pierce. It was based on a novel. A movie was originally done starring Joan Crawford. I thought the miniseries was very well done, but there definitely are a couple of things that would make interesting discussion board topics. Any watchers and any comments?

    watched it
I watched the first 2 nights, but didn't see all of the last episode. It was very good - excellent acting by Kate Winslet.

    Veda
How could anyone raise such an obnoxious child? In later series Veda is 19-20. She is really a B****CH. You can proabaly catch most of the expisodes ON DEMAND. You're right Kate winslet was excellent, But she ended up osing what she had worked so hard for. Why did she lose everythihg?

One of my all-time favorite movies!
The first time I saw it, my mom let me stay home from school to see it and we watch it 'together' all the time. I didn't see the mini series, but plan to!

    I never saw the original,
I never saw the original, but really enjoyed the mini-series. Kate Winslet was excellent. Veda was a monster who seemed to think her mission in life was to hurt her mother. Anyone read the book?

    I watched the entire series
I watched the entire series this weekend on-demand. I got hooked after Part 1. I couldn't believe what I was seeing as I watched the drama unfold. Veda was indeed a piece of work. WOW! Evan Rachel Wood did a good job playing Veda. And I always like Kate Winslet (but there's always a nude scene in her movies... ha ha. Just like Harvey Keitel needed to show his bum in all his movies for a while..)I will have to read the book so I can compare.

Another HBO mini-series I really like is "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency". I even let my 8-yr old daughter watch it. She's hooked too. We especially love Anika Noni Rose as Mma Makutsi. She's a riot.

Was afraid to watch the mini-series
because, like Sue, I LOVED the original movie with Joan Crawford--I've seen it at least 10 times. However, the mini-series, while not exactly like the original movie, was very good. Kate Winslet was really excellent. If you liked the series and haven't seen the movie--go rent it.

HBO has some wonderful mini-series on. We never miss one.
