Buzzed the hair

I had my second treatment of A/C Thursday and my hair starting coming out a little in strands on the way home. I decided to buzz it to ease the anxiety of seeing it fall out. My husband borrowed the neighbors clippers and went to town. He actually seemed to have fun doing it. I think it helped him be in control of the situation a little. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No tears and I don't mind looking at myself in the mirror. Although I didn't realize my hair had turned so dark.

((((HUGS)))) You have a very supportive husband! My hairdresser (who is also a friend) cut my hair really short for me today. I am planning on just having her buzz mine off too, but right before, or possibly a few days after the first treatment.

Good luck as you continue with your chemo! I start in 2 to 4 weeks.

My son buzzed mine after the falling out hair clogged the shower drain. If I would have been smart I would have done it before showering, as it took me quite a while to unclog.laugh
Glad to hear that you are okay with it! Now it is really easy to get ready to leave the house!

    good decision
The up side of all this is that we can't really have bad hair days!

My husband asked if I wanted him to stick around or leave. I told him I wanted him to take pictures. He did, and we posted them on the caring bridge website so no one would get a real shock. We were also surprised that my hair had darkened with the first treatment.

    Buzzed my hair too
I had 4 rounds of A/C and 12 rounds of Taxotere. My hair started falling out between my 1st and 2nd A/C infusions. I had very thick hair to begin with so it took another couple of weeks before it looked so ridiculous that I had my husband buzz off the rest of it. I must say it made showering/hair care much easier and quicker. A little soap on the old scalp and I was good to go. It has now been 8 months since my last chemo. I have a full head of salt and pepper "chemo curls." I never had curly hair before so this is very strange for me. It sure beats the bald alternative. IRENE

I gave my sister the honor
I gave my sister the honor of buzzing my hair after our Thanksgiving meal. She had been with me during my first chemo treatment and was going with me for my second on "Black Friday". When she was done, I went to the bathroom to check out the new me (I still had a quarter inch stubble). My sister laughed at me when I came out saying "OMG I can't believe how dark my roots are.". She still comments about that today, that I wasn't concerned about how I looked with a buzz cut, I was more concerned about how dark my remaining hair was. (I am the blonde in my photo).

Well done ladies.. We are still in charge..

    Hugs,

    My son-in-law buzzed mine
Not too many sons-in-law can say they shaved their mother-in-law's hair and survived. Gives him bragging rights. Hard to lose that hair when you were always "that cute little blonde girl". Glad you are able to take it so well.
