Support Group in SF -- "Jeffrey's Place"

Last week I attended a drop-in support group for GBT men with dealing with Cancer. It was small, but very good. There were two facilitators, one is a survivor, the other a caregiver. Besides myself the other two who showed up included another guy who was newly diagnosed and another who has been fighting his cancer for 5 years. It was very refreshing to be able to hang out and chat openly. While I'm still learning about having Cancer it's hard to relax entirely around people, and being with other gay men dealing with cancer is like getting two stigmas out of the way automatically.

It's not like a huge revelation or making any dramatic connections, but at this stage it's hard to feel entirely comfortable with people and this really does help. Jeffrey's Place meets at the GLBT Center on Market at Octavia 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 6:00.

    Meeting place
Hey tiger we've chatted a few times on here, and I am happy you have a place to go and feel comfortable and open. I dont' have a place to go unless I travel an hour from where i live. I sure would like to be around other survivors, spouses, friends etc to just vent, cry or even get a hug from a stranger can make all the difference in ones heart. I walk around afraid most of the time now, and wish i had more face to face interaction with cancer surivors and caregivers.... continued good luck with your meetings Tiger........
