I know that the newbies don't know what NED or Dancing with NED means. NED means no evidence of disease. I don't know if the doctors really say that now, but, it means that your mammo, ultrasound, PET, CT scan or any other test you have comes back clean or clear. They found no cancer! So, NED is very good!

I hope this helps to explain it to anyone that may not know.

We all want to Dance with NED!

    Hi Denise,
    My doctors do

    Hi Denise,
My doctors do just what yours do. All the tests came back fine.
They have never used the words that you mentioned.

Not sure why, maybe just different doctors have different ways of doing things.

    Mine did not say
Mine did not say cancer free or cured either, but I told him I wanted a puppy who's breed had an average life expectancy of 10 years and would this be a good idea. He said yes, go ahead and get the puppy. I cried as I explained my question. He didn't take it back jsut laughed, so I'm takin that as a really good sign.

    Never told 'Cancer Free'
I was never told that I was "Cancer Free" - there is no cure for cancer today!

    I don't 'dance with NED' - I 'ride her/him'. I can't dance but I am a good horsewoman so I ride NED.

Did you know there is a Ned Land?
Yeah sure. Read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea! I'm reading it and was very amused at the characters name in the story.

    No Ned for me
My onc also told me that he would never tell me i was cured as there is no cure for cancer he sees it as a bear that we push into a cave and then keep him there. also no Ned or remission. we have my tumor markers pretty low and that is the best we can hope for, it is so depressing i want remission or ned but it is not going to be.
